Nathalie has already stared with some translations here and I thought it would be nice to "collect" some translations. So I started a new thread for the German TLK Lyrics and their translations into English. Please keep in mind that this is not a "literal translation". I try keeping the translation close to the original words but sometimes I changed the structure or chose different words so you can understand what it means. Let's start with the first song: Circle of Life. More to follow, hopefully. ger-tlk.jpg 1. *Note: The German word "geweiht" is very difficult to translate here. It means "obliged" or "pledged" but in a spiritual way. It means that one's purpose is based on the laws of nature and so it highly influences one's life.

Now let's move on to "I just can't wait to be king!". There are actually 2 different versions in German. One was included on the soundtrack, featuring another voice for Zazu and two different lines. I wanted to do Shadowland, but then I decided I'd go with the original songs first and then add the musical versions later. I like sticking to the original order. So here comes "be prepared" next. This was really fun to do since I've tried translating the English lyrics into German when I was in fith grade. Back then I had only learned English for a few months, but I tried my best with a dictionary because I desperately wanted the lyrics. Of course the translation was horribly weird... And even today I don't know why I chose certain words. So this time, I'll do it the other way round and I'll do a better job ger-tlk.jpg 3. Be prepared German Lyrics: Seid bereit! ¹"unerhört" is literally translated "unheard of".

² literally "Löwenlatein" is translated "lion-latin" which is a reference to the German term "Jägerlatein". It corresponds to the term "a cock-and-bull-Story".

⁴ "Du Null" --> Literally scar says "you zero" but it means somebody is worth nothing or he is good for nothing. A loser basically.

⁵ This was really difficult to translate because it's rather awkward in German as well. I can tell the translator had a hard time translating it into German. I think it's been solved much better in the German musical version. Well "blank wie mein Neid" means that his teeth are cold and exposed like his hatred for his brother. He envies him for the throne. I hope that helps a bit in understanding what it means.
