Virginia as in America, right? How does one come to know the German language then?
I happen to like opera too
(I mean, I know like 2 songs but I like them so that counts, right? >p< )

As in America, yeah!
I haven't lived here for long, though. I spent the majority of my life in Europe.
I went through a whole "I LOVE GERMAN I LOVE GERMANY EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE GERMAN I WISH I WAS GERMAN"-phase since I wasn't particularly good at any other language and I didn't really have a use for English back then.
I've watched Sturm der Liebe more than any other show* (I probably shouldn't be proud of that though >-< ) and I watched the majority of the movies I've seen in German (Including The Lion King, Wreck-it Ralph, The Croods and Frozen*)

I just like how organised the language is, and how much sense it makes grammar-wise. (But I still kinda shun genders and stuff because it takes ages to get every word/gender correct >->)
Also, let's not forget about Bavaria. It's quaint and adorable :>

*[Although recently I've been watching a lot of Supernatural!
I generally don't watch a lot of stuff, and lately I've been kinda busy-ish making sure the house is clean and the dogs don't hurt themselves or one-another >p< ]
