"We are!" Taka yelled over his shoulder to Merra. He sighed inpatiently.
Taugadi immediately followed close behind Taka. Hearing him hiss for no real reason, Taugadi tilted her head, wondering why he was doing that. "What're you doing," she asked curiously.
Muffled talking could be heard from the opening of the den. Taka let out a short snarl, and the talking became louder.
Merra hissed back, arching her back ready to pounce.
"Watch" Taka whispered to Taugadi.
Three hyena kits came forward. One, a female with a black tuft of fur hanging over her eyes came first.
Taugadi gasped and stood behind Taka as she saw the kits appear.
"Hello, Shenzi" he said calmly as the others appeared.
"I'd be careful if I were you. The adults'll be coming back soon" another said.
Merra eyed the kits cautiously. She slowly came up to stand.
"Oh, this is Shenzi, Banzai, and...Ed" Taka said, eyeing the last one.
Taugadi was still cautious, but went out from behind Taka and stood at his side. "N-nice to meet you," she said to the kits, remembering her manners.
"HiImMerra" She blurted all at once.
Shenzi rolled her eyes, and said,"Would you like a tour?" knowing the cubs were curious.
"A quick one!" Banzai added, worried about the adults coming back.
"Hi" Banzai said with glazed eyes, one eyebrow tilted slightly.
Merra nudged Taka.
Taka looked back at Merra, and walked inside. "Start your little tour" he urged Banzai and Shenzi.
Merra trudged along, perhaps sticking closer to Taka than she'd of liked.
Taugadi walked along on Taka's other side, looking around at the surroundings. 'I guess it's okay,' she thought to herself as they moved along, 'those kits seem to be okay with us.'
Taka noticed that Merra was a little worried, and stuck close to her.
Shenzi led the way, going through the winds and tredges.
Merra's eyes traveled over the hyenas, memorising their every feature, in case she ever saw them again.
Shenzi came to the very back of the den, and said,"This is it. Not so scary, is it?"
Banzai started to say something until he was cut off by a sudden growling, coming from the lips of his own mother.
