I'm not sure if we've had a thread about this yet, but anyway, why not list your favourite classical pieces?
Mine would be:
- 1812 Overture
- The Blue Danube
- Atmospheres
- Moonlight Sonata
- Dies Irae

Ride Of The Valkyries is a pretty cool piece
Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 & 9
I like Mozart. I don't know any names of the songs because I never really bother to find out.
I also like the guy known as the "Tiger Woods" of Piano. Saw him on Leno once, too.

I was listening to that the other day...it made me think of Vitani...Originally posted by nafklt
Canon by Pachelbel...
Here are some good ones that I recommend that would be accessible for people who don't listen to classical music a lot. There really is some exceptional music out there that people don't hear too often (usually because the pieces call for too large of an orchestra, not enough public demand or funding for more obscure works, etc.).
'Carmina Burana' - Carl Orff
'Lux Aeterna' - G. Ligeti
'Tabula Rasa' - Arvo Part
'Appalachian Spring' - Aaron Copland
Violin Concerto - Philip Glass
Violin Concerto - John Adams
Trombone Concerto - C. Rouse
Horn Concerto No. 2 - Richard Strauss
Symphony No. 2 - Gustav Mahler
Symphony No. 5 - Jean Sibelius
Symphony No. 4 - Carl Nielsen
'The Planets' - Gustav Holst
'Der Fliegende Hollander' ('Flying Dutchman') - Richard Wagner
'Nixon in China' - John Adams
I really like Canon by Pachabel! I have two versions of Canon in D, one on piano that goes for 10mins, and one performed by an orchestra. I prefer the piano version
That's about all the classical music i have but i want to get more because i usually like it, and it helps with concentrating on homework. It's actually been scientifically proven that it improves concentration, so i would really like more
I have The Last Samurai soundtrack (not sure if that's 'classical', i guess it's more just instrumental), and while some of the music on there isn't exactly relaxing music, most of it is, and i really like it. Besides, Hans Zimmer is a legend.
If anyone knows of like a CD that is packed full of really good classical music, i'd like to know the title of it . I don't just want to walk into a music store and buy any classical music CD because i might not like it, and it would be a waste of money
Of course if there's somewhere that i can download classical music that would be good
Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata; F?r Elise; Path?tique Sonata
Mozart - Sonatas
Satie - Three Gymnopedies
Haydn - Piano Sonata No. 58, Rondo
Bach - Prelude in C Major; Two-part Inventions
Chopin - Preludes, Op. 28 Nos. 4 and 20
Couperin - Les Baricades Misterieuses
Joplin - The Entertainer
Pachelbel - Canon in D
Bach - Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring; Arioso
Handel - Air from the Water Music
Some of these I have, some were recommended to me. XD
I'm not really in to music so I can't know names of those musics I do like... but yes I do lisen some classic sometimes... even that is rare but it happens sometimes...

Hmm...It looks like this thread is still around. Anyway, lately I've been listening to a lot more classical music than I did before (now moreso than any other genre). I've taken a particular liking to Richard Wagner's music. My favourite opera by him would probably have to be 'Tristan Und Isolde', which stands a good chance at being my favourite piece of music of all time. Although 'Die Walkure' was also really amazing (mainly due to it including the 'Ride Of The Valkyries' number as well as a moving finale).
