    Meaningful Music

There's a special place in my life for those songs that manage to be very meaningful, and always pick me up (or calm me down/refocus) whenever I play them. Sometimes I really need it!

I can't think of them all right now, but I could always use more.

    What are yours?

    UPBEAT:
Mama Cass - Make Your Own Kind of Music
Lady Gaga - The Edge of Glory
Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You

    CALMING:
    Tobasco Donkeys - I Don't Mind
    John Prine - Paradise
    Jay Ungar - Ashokan Farewell

I know there's a lot of meaningful music that I like to listen to, but I can't think right now. The only one I can think of is a pick-me-up song. Works every time, without fail.

There are many songs I can relate to long distance relationships and love, but here are some that make me feel better that I can think of right now, all by the same singer too.

Don't Worry Be Happy - Bob Marley
Three Little Birds - Bob Marley
    Buffalo Soldier - Bob Marley

You can't go wrong with a bit of Bob. It always makes me feel like I'm in a better place, like somewhere sunny and on a beach.

Yeah, Bob Marley is a legend when it comes to music.

My Bob Marley selection? Turn your lights down low - Bob Marley The sweet love that I have right now.

Ladies and Gentleman, English Soul. Love it!

This music makes me calm and happy.

I generally go through so many songs that the meaningful ones change all the time; this one's been an important one for me over the last couple of days though:

Thanks for sharing, these are some great pieces and I've never really listened to his music. I really like it!

    I have a few!

    The Beatles- Hey Jude
I can familiarise with the Jude character referred to in the song, gets me down sometimes lol.

    R.E.M.- At My Most Beautiful
Me and my gf's song <3

    R.E.M.- Everybody Hurts
Lost count of how many times this song has been listened to in bad times

Bob Vieira- Here on This Island
[from a videogame] Just soothing, can't explain it :'3 "even heaveeeen's chooorruuuuuus.."

Hans Zimmer- This Land [A**** W Cover]
Relaxing, and reminds me that I actually can make good music x3 good memories of making that

    Lange- Follow Me
Takes me back to when things were exhilarating and new to me, and I enjoyed life a lot more

    Mike Oldfield- Moonlight Shadow
Reminds me of my dad, cause he used to wake me up on weekends by playing this on his bass guitar

    R.E.M.- Nightswimming
Reminds me of nights out in Sandown, walking back from the pier and getting some chips with my family. We'd walk next to the beach, and it'd be pitch black except for the moon refelcting off the sea. After we'd eaten, we'd walk back to the calm with this lovely sea breeze and drive around the island, with "Automatic For The People" playing, and this song was one of the last to play, and coincidentally always on the darkest, calmest parts of our ride. That and the lyrics and theme remind me of this feeling.

    R.E.M.- Shiny Happy People
My dad always used to play this in the car when we'd drive off the ferry onto the ground of the Isle of Wight then we'd gloat at people going in the other direction

there are more but I don't wanna list them

Daughtry - "No Surprise" and B.O.B - "Airplanes"

Not sure why, but I have liked both of these songs. They both seem to be overplayed on the radio. Maybe I like them because I hear them so much.

    *revive* xD

All my ~meaningful music is mostly related to my stupid teenage angst, but here's one:

    Foo Fighters - Everlong.
Perfect song that brings back so many memories.

There's also the acoustic version, which is beautiful, and tends to remind me of one person in particular.

Personally, I don't think much in the history of music has come close to this...

I like that, but always preferred this one:

@Wide Eyed Wanderer: Clair de Lune is my favourite. Always makes me happy to see other people loving on it.

As for me, I find Patrick Wolf's music very meaningful. My girlfriend and I kind of adopted his Bluebells as our song, and I always get really emotional when it comes on the iPod.

And as for cheesy pop, I love Viva Forever by the Spice Girls. They were the first band I ever liked, and I still love the songs.
