because there are many types of maths but the subject is mathematics, so it seems more fitting for it to be called maths rather than math...
I perfer maths over math, but .. blah its math!!

Maths seems grammatically incorrect.
ive always called it Maths
just one of those things that varies in different countries
like in Aus we say "mum", and in the US you say "mom"
I have to agree with Xinithian, maths does sound grammatically incorrect. For example.."Do you need some help with your maths?" OR "Do you need some help with your math?"
We say "math" because American and English are two different languages. Why do people in Mexico say "manzanas" when Americans say "apples"?
If you really need an in-depth answer, it may be because European English focuses on the concept of mathematics as a group of different studies while American English speakers focus on mathematics as a single concept encompassing many things, but still one concept.
I dunno, maybe because in america something that ends with an s usually means more than one? Who knows, lol. Math, maths, they're all the same x.x

I am one super lost Genie....math? We have always called it math in missouri, penssylvania.....ohio....math...maths....math. Never Maths Class....Math Class.....okay what the heck I don' understand what's going on. I've NEVER heard it said Maths lol.
AKA we also call it hell...but cha know. Or Alegebra Class 5. [shrugs and floats off]
