To my understanding Googlebot is just good thing. Without it we would not show up on Google. Most bots are good and harmless, used to collect information for certain places like Google, Yahoo, Bing etc... ;)
Hopefully we wont be getting spam bots thought even thought those should be staying away. Due to security in registering.
Oh I know. :) The ones to worry about are the ones that like to post porn links and things like that. Though there was that one that was posting on topic text and links, but it was clearly a bot. :lol:
That there was. But I don't think at that time we had picture verification. Yes some bots can by pass that, but besides that we have the Email confirmation now. AND if that fails we do have 5 Admins which 3 rather active ones and plenty of mods to stop them... so go ahead hacks.. bring it on! :roar:
The complexity and (artificial) intelligence of bots these days is amazing. Sometimes, it is only the poor grammar that gives them away.

Speaking of which (showing up on google), is there a way we can increase our potential for that? I did a search for 'lion king forum' and 'lion king website' the other day, and I got through 7 pages of links before I gave up on Lea. When you search for 'lion king forum' the first result is the mylionking forum. We need Lea to be on that first page if we ever expect to get new members from google searches...Quote:

Just a heads up, I think the last two new members with their unusual spam looking usernames may be bots/spammers. Lando something and Pseur.. whatever.

Just checked these accounts Emails and IP addresses and those came up as spam accounts. Not really harmful ones but none the less. Did ban all the account and block the Email and the IP. Also the newest member checked out as spam account so I guess we have been spotted by various bots... Well keep on the good work.Quote:

I replaced the registering image verification with a question, seems like it's working so far.

To be honest on old lea I was annoyed by the question at search as I have never really read any of the 6 books, I did read a little bit of one of them, but didn't even finish that. And I felt answering Ahadi for a question was not really fair for people who just join the fan hood or are from countries that don't even have the books available at all and who don't really care about debating about background of the characters.
Don't worry, I wasn't seriously suggesting Nala's eyes! :lol:
