Also, I realize that I should make some new character references, there are some I haven't drawn at all :P

I wasn't really going for drawing him as a cub, but it looks like it kind of turned out that way. I'm not sure. :lol: Short legs and big paws I guess. But I notice I draw big paws, a lot. I guess it's kind of my style.

Just letting people know I finished my sketch. I wouldn't mind some constructive criticism either. I don't know if the shoulders and in between the shoulder blades look weird. I was being lazy and didn't look for any reference to help me with that pose.

He looks very cute and...it seems like he's plotting something.He has a cubbish demeanor but as for size he looks more like a young teenage lion to me.
As for the shoulder plates,while I'm no expert in anatomy,I thought that they look a little apart.But then again this is cartoon and not realism and that generally offers more liberty.And I quite like the big paws.:D
Yes, the shoulder blades are too far apart. I might try to fix that later because it will bug me. :p
I think it looks great, nice work :D As for the shoulder blades, I think the position is right, but it's more that they're a bit pointy and acute. You could try smoothening them a bit (I hope I'm explaining myself well xD).
I'll take the next spot :) I already drew Sharifu in her Larko form once, but I'll see if I can come up with something different, I might as well try with Sadiki instead.
EDIT: Alright, here it is, I decided to do Sadiki this time :D I hope I got the markings right. I went ahead and did a semi-outline because the original sketch became a big unrecognizable mess xD

For whoever is next, you can draw Coatl, just bear in mind that I just redesigned him, so he doesn't have the brown stylish mane anymore, and now his eyes are green. As for the spots, feel free to draw them however you like, no need to be perfect with those. (I'm working on a character reference for him, but it'll take me a few days to finish it xP)
If drawing jaggy spots isn't your cup of tea, you can draw Kareem instead ;)

Are there any other markings I should be aware of? Like around the tail, paws, etc?

Perhaps instead of editing posts to present the finished image which is sometimes not seen, just create a new post, even if you end up double-posting, it's for a good reason.
Hmm well, besides the spots, there aren't any particular markings to be aware of, except maybe those on the corners of his mouth, but it's ok if they're not there. If you want a spot pattern to help you with, it should be very similar to his dad's:
