Man, working at the theater like working at the goldmine, slimy yet satisfied. My lecturer said working as a lighting man at the theater is worth 15,000 dollars per month. Well if you say it's worth it, it's okay with me.
Say hi to Simba the Pimp for me. :idiot:

So I'm not sure how many of y'all are Broadway fans in general as well as TLKoB fans. I thought I'd share these here but they require a bit of explanation.
Every year, the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS foundation has an auction called "Broadway Bears". There's also "Broadway Bares" but that one's COMPLETELY different. Anyway, what it is, is these artists all make bears of various characters from different shows and usually, the originator of the character autographs them. There have been TLKoB ones in the past, but this year there are two. :D

Pumbaa. It didn't say if Tom Alan Robbins signed it or not.

Nala. Signed by Heather Headley.
These things sometimes auction for more than $5,000 depending on the character. The Rafiki bear was actually the first one to go for more than $5,000. There's a Spring Awakening one this year and I'm pretty sure it'll go for at least that.

AWWWW I absolutely adore the Pumbaa bear!! SO CUTE!!
Btw. HK did you see my pic, they got me into a quick Nala make-up in Paris!!
I think I'm looking out of place!
-
Oh man those are really really adorable! :3 I like that Pumbaa one it's hilarious! :3
-
Wow, those are very cute. :D Nala looks like Winnie the Pooh.
-
And Pumbaa looks like "Crazy eating warthog zombie" :cheese: but overall it's cute HK. :D
-
That's a bad shot of the Pumbaa one. He does have pupils. Here's a better shot.

I also managed to find shots of the past ones. They only have pictures from 2000 onwards, but the only one missing is Rafiki I think.

Last night was the final performance of the South African production. It broke all kinds of records during it's short run. Awesome.
I also just read a little news blurb saying that the production is heading for Taipei next. I haven't found any other articles about that, but I'll keep y'all posted of course. ;)
That's exactly what Phantom did when it closed in South Africa. And then it did a world tour of Asia.
This is kind of off-topic but I need to share. I had to do eye surgery on my lovey Simba plushie. The black on his eyes were starting to come off. I'm actually surprised it didn't happen sooner since he's almost fourteen.
Edited so as not to freak Z out further. ;)
-
OK YOU FREAK ME HK!! I soooo hope Simba is a plushie!
-
Oh he totally is, don't worry.
-
Noo.. my favorite thread is dying. soo do they have Simba bear HK?
-
Not that I've seen. Maybe they'll have one next year. :)
I know of someone who went to the show in London yesterday afternoon and Simba was a swing. There were lots of understudies she said.
-
Noooo, again they missed Makiwane boy! But the cast is changing on the 22nd of April so everyone is taking off now, using all the vacation they were left with etc.
Btw. it's not of him as Simba, but there's a video with him in it, end part, like after 1:40 or something, didn't check...
