Something close to a sporty Ford Ka or something like that. I don't like the regular models much but I do like the sporty models.

Depends what I can afford in the future. I wouldn't mind a nice little run-a-round to start off with though. ;)

Random note: My bro has a 1981 manual tranny beamer, god that thing is fun to drive!
:cheese:

Well lets, dream cars.. Heheh, plan to own atleast one of these someday:

First off, I gotta agree with Lunar, the 2007 Jaguar XK8 just screams mean. An Aston Martin influenced design from Ian Callum, it's gorgeous.

Like every good American, I'd also love a Chevy Corvette to call me own.
http://www.theweekenddrive.com/reviews/2005/pics/CorvetteZ06.jpg

And the Lotus Elise, probably the sexiest, and surprizingly affordable, sports car ever made.

Oh! And I almost forgot. A 1982 Toyota Corolla, I can only pray that some day I'll come across one for sale in good condition at a time I can afford it.

Current Car: 2001 Kia Rio

Desired weekend/touring car: Honda S2000
Desired commuter car: Honda Insight

Probably won't have enough money for the latter two for quite some time, got the college loans to pay off after all.

I would like to drive a Mini Cooper at some point though. Just re-watched The Italian Job last night and they seem pretty fun.

Hmmm, for a dream car i would have to say a '66 Shelby Cobra with the 427 side-oiler motor, no car on the road could touch the Cobra, not even a Ferrari from the time (which is saying a lot cause the Cobra is straight up American).

But for a car that is in reach it would have to be a '50 Ford 2-door coupe with the original 239 Flathead, may only make 85 to 100 horsepower but nothing else sounds like a flatty.

I can see how that sub location would draw the attention of thieves. Next time you should probably use a concealed location if possible, or maybe use a cover when parked.

actually it was broken into while I was living in Texas with the worst crime rate ever! It was broken into on my first day of college >.<

In my sub-division though nothing has happened to it yet. I put a new cd player in it because the old was stolen also I put my amp back in which was not stolen because it was bolted down too tight and I got new rear speakers because the others were stolen

:D I don't think it was just you, I think that a lot of people who owned Vipers didn't like it as well. I've known a few people that owned vipers, and when their lease expired on it, they didn't lease it again. They usually go for the Porsches after having a Viper. I've also seen how cramped the interior is.

idk my expierence with a Viper was AWESOME!!!! I like the interior, kind of hard getting intro the drivers seat because I'm tall but it is quite comfortable, I've driven all kinds of expensive Mercedes cars, Porches, 350Zs, Impreza WRXs, Lancer EVOs, plenty of BMW M3's, Jaguars and so on and so far the Dodge Viper is still my favorite even though I haven't got to personally drive one I have rode in one up to 160 mph :cheese:

I'd import a new AC Cobra from England (AC still makes the Cobra), so I could have bragging rights about having an authentic AC Cobra.

Heheh, it's alright Becca.

And personally I'd by a Vet and supe it up. I'll leave a viper in the dust, save my money while doing it, and be more comfortable to boot. ;)

Though, in all the cars I've ridden in and more limitedly, have driven. Nothing ever seems better made, or is more fun to drive, than a BMW. I used to think they were kinda ugly, but they are just damn great cars.

Don't be dissin' on teh l33t 1950s! Plus, gas was a few cents per gallon back then, too...

The Lamborghini is 10mpg for city and 14mpg for highway (besides, I'd still say a British car would be preferred, I've never liked the styling of the Italians). But you forgot that you would have to change the engine on the Caddy to make it accept unleaded gas.

Oh, I'd just put a 1943 P-51D 12-cylinder Allison airplane engine in it, 1,200 HP and crazy torque. Stop at the airport for gasoline, lol. I really would like to try that someday, putting an old WW2 aircraft engine in a large car (like the '59 Caddy). Aircraft engines are meant to operate best at high altitudes, with thinner air and less O2, so being on the ground is like a natural air compressor for it.

Whaddaya think?

For me you can keep them, I'd take a muscle car any day of the week, cause they are cheap to fix, noisy as anything, and you can beat on them and not have a care about it, unlike one of those high dollar italian "supercars." Oh and one more thing about the idea of the P-51 motor in a '59 Caddy Eldorado, nice idea, but make sure you get the actual motor, cause it wasn't an allison, it was a Rolls Royce-Merlin 12 cylinder, and it had two variations, supercharged and non supercharged.

Allisons were used originally; made in Indianapolis, but underperformed at higher altitudes, so in the war cooperation effort the US made the planes and sent them to Britain, where Rolls put in their Merlins with higher horsepower and better thin-air management.

Wolfman Jack
May 4th, 2005, 11:17 PM
Hmm, never knew that, all i have ever seen on shows about P-51's say they only used the Rolls-Merlin engine. Also, that's all my father can ever remember seeing or hearing for that matter, since he grew up near an airport that still had P-51's flying in and out after WWII. Only thing I can figure than is that the Allison was in the very early P-51's when they were still testing the design of it, because the ones you normally here about are not the original design, but the sleek beauty that it became.

There's a difference though. The Ferraris and exotic cars will always be desired, gain price and are limited, whereas the muscle cars wont always be desired, depreciate in value and are common. There's also another element to supercars that make them supreme... sure, a modified car can beat it in performance, but it's the fact that you're getting first-class luxury, great performance and a rare and desirable car all in one that makes supercars better in my opinion.

One thing you forgot, muscle cars gain money everyday, especially since Barret-Jackson started really selling them. Last time I saw it the top selling car was a muscle car, to be exact a 1970 Plymouth Superbird. Right under that if I remember was like a 50's Buick. And really I wouldn't consider a Ferrari or Lambo exotic anymore, since they mass produce them. Also, if you own an exotic, how oftn are you really going to go out, and run the hell out of it. I mean honestly, how often do you see somebody take a Ferrai 360 down the 1/4-mile, never for me. A muscle car you can do that, and if something breaks, it can be fixed very cheap. Whereas, if you drive an exotic, you have to take it somewhere, and spend a couple thousand to get it fixed. For me doorslammers will always rule.

Oh and one more thing, last thing I heard, the Saleen S7 was the fastest production car, best part about that is that it's not an exotic.

Mass produce them? What do you mean? They only make like 2000 cars, I'll get the actual production rates in a second when I find them.

Go out? People go out with exotics all the time... they go to clubs and meetings/gatherings with them. They drive them on most weekends. And if you mean drive it on the drag strip, that's not what supercars were designed for anyways.

Wolfman Jack
May 5th, 2005, 01:20 AM
When I mean top selling I mean in price. It beat out classic Ferrari's in price. I never said a "supercar" was designed for drag racing, I merely used that as an example. They make way more the 2000 cars anymore, unless it is the Enzo, which i know is limited run (still wouldn't have one myself, think it's pretty fugly). And yes I know they have track meets, but how often do you actually see somebody run a vintage Ferrari or somethin like it with the risk of puttig it into the wall. People with classic American cars do that. I was watching the Goodwood Festival of Speed on Speed channel, and a guy driving the HEMI Under Glass wheeled it and wrecked it and had no remorse of it knowing it could be fixed even though it is a very historical car here. But the guys driving the "exotics" and "supercars" just plotted along, even the ones in modern F1 cars. Also, since I read Hot Rod Mag I see a lot of other guys that do the same thing and go out and really beat on them. I see guys pushing classic Trans Am cars to the max all the time, sometimes with a resulting spin or trip to the wall, you don't see that with vintage "exotic" cars.

There's NO way that could be the most expensive car. The Aston Martin DB4 Zagato was 3 Million dollars, and that wasn't even the most expensive car. I think the most expensive car was the 1955 Mercedes W196, selling for 24 million pounds. here's the article (http://www.channel4.com/4car/feature/features-2005/expensive-cars/expensive-cars.html)

Of course people aren't going to take a classic exotic out to the track... most of them are collectors anyways. They have other more fun cars to take to the track, and often buy cars that are simply made for the track. They could have a supercar for weekend cruising, but then a totally road-illegal car designed only for the track (like a modified Ultima GTR) that they race.

I think Shelby Cobra's have sold for more, even though I know there's almost none left. I could be wrong though

Race Cobra's with little history go for around 700kand street ones for like 100 to 300k if they are real and correct(you can buy glass body replica's all day long). And when I said the Superbird was most expensive, I said for a specific auction, not overall. I said it was highest selling at Barret-Jackson. I saw when the highest selling car that ever rolled across the block at Barret-Jackson (this was a different auction)and it set a record. And no it wasn't a supercar, or even an Aston for that matter, it was a 1954 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 concept that sold for over 3 mill. And really that's my point, all they do is let the car sit in their garage or what-have-you, basicly sealed up never to hit the road again. That is why I have my opinion that muscle cars are better in every way. There is only one private collector that I consider a car guy, and that is Jay Leno. he actually drives all his cars and bikes, usually a different one everyday. He even drives his Stanley Steamer, a very rare find anymore. Also, he has gotten caught for doing over 70 in one of his 30's Dusenburgs. This just goes to show nomatter what the car is it is meant to be driven, even if they only made a few of them. I see less vintage Trans Am, NASCAR, and Dragsters than I do of vintage exotics, that should tell you something. So I stand by my opinion that a muscle car or a classic car from here in America creams an exotic any day of the week, even if the whole thing is only held together with chewing gum and duct tape.

Really? That doesn't do me no good then...I guess I was hooked on it because of it being made mostly of stainless steel.

I also heard something about replacement parts being a real pain in the butt to get a hold of, or maybe not...don't know for sure.
