Congratulations!

That's the best joke of today. *shakes your paw* .. =)

I don't know if you guys are used to it, but I still have difficulties adapting into this particular forum, because there's a huge amount of spam / offtopicness (usually) on just about every thread you can find. Added to that the use of multiple huge built-in smileys (which are nice when used a hunch more sparingly, don't get me wrong) + combination of average message lenght of just about only one sentence.. I really, really highly doubt Lilymud is messier than Leahalalela! *grins*

.. It's a forum for artists, just like the name says yes. I occasionally browse it, since I find it fun to look at the creations the artists post there. Not my place to join, really though.. as the only artform I master is the creation of stick-figures.

Drat.

PS: I'm just talking about the messiness in general. Not the people. Y'all are great. http://puuma.com/stuff/yes.gif

I made a joke? O_o

I'm not talking about the threads, there are so many darn subforums all over the place and you don't know where to post. And everyone's avatar is freaking huge, it throws off the page's layouting and then yeaaaah...

va-kasi
April 14th, 2005, 05:28 AM
The avaters here I find very small. The ones on lilymud shouldn't be throwing off any layout unless your resolution is set lower than 800X600.

Sombolia
April 14th, 2005, 05:35 AM
Odd, because I have a 1024x768 resolution and it's still all funky for me.

There's actually a thread about why it's called Lilymud.

I think it was just because the owner of Lilymud (Chianti) had already bought the domain name www.lilymud.com (at the time ;) It's .net now) before she hosted the TLK forums for Cally (The owner of the Ezboard "Lilymud")

 Eh, I worded that really confusinly! :vitsm:

It's just like here....you have a core of members who are the main posters and you have new members and you have veteran members. They tend to be more strict when it comes to certian things but it's cool. It's a little better organized, once you get used to it. :cheese:

Lilymud is The Lion King Fan Art Archive (http://fanart.lionking.org)Messageboard. If you're a fan-artist on TLKFAA then you just have to be on Lilymud, it's such a cool place. It's got art projects, LK fan-stuff and lots more :)

The avatars on Lilymud is tiny if you compare them to the huge signatures people use here.
I like the organization that Lilymud has, Lea feels kind of messy.O_o
But this forum is calmer, it feels like Lilymud always have such a tempo. Eeveryone posts in the same thread for 3 days and then it's forgotten.:/

Well, doesn't this front page tells you where to post stuff? In Pride Rock, it says underneat the title "introduce yourself here" ...

And banners, yes, you people here are very lucky here with the 500 x 300 size.
And still half doesn't think that's already big enough.

But that's another discussion, hehe

Haha yes. One of the major differences between the two forums is thread bumping.

Stictly forbidden on Lilymud, strictly encouraged on Lea :slimey:

I once had someone tell me that it didn't make sense for me to be on the fa.tlk.org archive and not be on Lilymud. That gave me quite a chuckle...I mean, since when it it required that fa.tlk.org artists be on Lilymud?
;)

I was actually on Lilymud BEFORE it became known as Lilymud, back it was run by Cally on Ezboard and known as "The Lion King Fan Art Message Board" (a name I don't feel really suits it any longer). I left about 2 years ago and haven't really been back since, save for a few times when someone passed me a thread that might interest me. I didn't really get along with the way things were run there...too many sub forums with gray areas on where you post what, too much drama, popularity contest issues, too many mods gumming up the works...all the fun stuff that comes with a forum that has a high population with a fast-paced environment.
It was fun while it lasted but the board got too crowded and cliquish for me. I wonder if it's changed since then though...? *shrugs*

I like it the atmosphere here much better, though I do miss some of my old Lilymud acquaintances.
:emo:

Lilymud is an excellent board to go to if you're looking for some gallery recognition or if you want some good art tips/critique. =^^=
I like the Emotional Creativity forum as well...a drama hub that gives people an outlet to post about daily life crap without cluttering up the main chat forums.

Y'know, forum skins/themes take a lot of hard work to make. Many people created those they have at lilymud whilst a select few created the ones they have here and in my personal opinion, they're a lot more better in quality than the ones they have there.

I took one look at Lilymud and closed the link. A few thousand or so too many members, and fanart isn't the end-all for me. If there are 20 skins then I must have gotten a bad one because it hurt my eyes. I happen to like the look and feel of this place, thanks. Well, anyway. I am a member there but I'm not that interested in reading or posting stuff over Lilymud. Or like, as in I read stuff over there seldom and post even more rarely. Well as for Lilymud itself, I don't think it's a bad forum. I just prefer to come here since I know a lot more people and some of the people here are close friends.

I usually pay a visit to Lilymud various times during the day. However, I don't post as much as I used to. I just find I don't really have the time to post on more than one forum, especially since I've got coursework and such to get on with as well.

So obviously, if I was to choose between Lilymud and Lea I'd choose Lea because of obvious reasons which I mentioned already.

If someone here critisize lilymud they can if they are nice about it and not just say that its a dump or something after all constructive critisizm is good for development but of course stuff like saying that its a dump is out of line.

and if someone critisize lea they should also make it constructive otherwise people will get defensive.

I have no real experience of lilymud so I cant judge it.

I was wondering about the layouts, what is confusing about them? (not getting defensive here, just wondering what other people are thinking :) )

Well, this forum is another type of forum also ;)
(there are loads of different hosts out there where you can make a forum)

But it all looks pretty much the same. Apart from the color use.

So I also don't really know what people mean when they say that this lay out is confusing.

D:
When this link was brought to my attention I had to take a peek.
Something about someone making a snarky comment about this board. Personally... I choose lilymud for one of two reasons.. check art trade options, and art theft. Other than that I really have nothing to post about over there.
I'm even one of the moldy oldies from back when it was on ez-board D:

Man I feel old.

Anyhoo... the fact that some of the 'mudders' over there have gone and stuck up for this board by saying someone should drop a certain topic of which board is better.. tells ya they respect both boards.

I have had an account here for a while.. forgot I had an account, and am only just recently posting.

True, I like the layout here, I like the layout there.
I don't use the RP forums, and yes, lately it's been swamped by n00bs.

I can't say what I think of this place as of yet, seeing as how I'm only in lurk mode.

I hardly say much to begin with but when I see this stupid argument, I have to pop in and say something.

Defending both boards D: OMG I'm such a sinner.

This link was also brought to my attention.
Man, I havent been here in a while, lol

I just wanted to say, we have alot of registered members ther,e but believe me, 1'000 members are NOT active there, LOL

We have the usual amount of people posting and commenting per day, but the only reason there are so many members is because we've been around for a few years now and Lilymud is often advertised (ie. on the TLKFAA links)

Im not a big fan of all the subforums either, but for places like the RolePlay forum they are sometimes needed.

Like any message board, once you go there for a few days, the place will feel much smaller. Lea intimidates me because I dont come here often, and it does seem huge and unorganised, but I could be wrong since I dont go through all the forums often here.

And for the record, you do NOT have to be an artist, or fan-artist the be a Lilymud member. We have an art forum, but you dont have to have art to post there, lol

*edit*

I also wanted to mention the waiting times for registration. Depending on the time of year, activation may be slower than usual. It could take a few days to receive the email. Please check your junk mail folder if you're waiting for an activation email, and if you find it is taking too long, why not just look at the staff list and email one of the moderators?

We dont encourage re-registering. Chances are if you are registered under one name, your second account will not be activated. Instead you have to ask mods for your original nick to be re-named. Alot of people forget that they already registered and just register with a new name and wonder why their account doesnt get activated.

Thanks for the welcome. And I really like the smiley set up here. I've been browsing some posts here and already it seems pretty nice and laid back.

Haha yes. One of the major differences between the two forums is thread bumping.

Stictly forbidden on Lilymud, strictly encouraged on Lea :slimey:
Ha, funny, I was reading this thread thinking "Hmm, it's a couple pages back...I wonder if anyone'll get annoyed with me for bumping it up again?"
Though technically, threads have to be a bit older than that to be considered "unbumpable." ;)

Air already said a lot of what I would have wanted to say. I'm a new member here and don't know much about it, but I like this place so far. I love TLK but I'm not as actively into the fandom these days, so Lilymud probably appeals to me more in the sense that we have a broader range of topics...it involves more of the fanart community and less of the TLK-specific fandom community.

I've been at Lilymud ever since the EZBoard days...I've watched it change over the years, go through good times and bad...and I still love the place. It's the only forum I really visit regularly and I can see myself remaining there for years to come, mostly because I've made a lot of good friends there, and I enjoy the discussions that go on.

I know some people consider Lilymud filled with drama since we tend to get the occasional controversial topic popping up...but honestly, I don't think it's really that drama-filled. I enjoy those topics, they're intellectually stimulating.

Oh, and for the record, that thread bashing Lea was NOT met with much kindness. If anything, I think it inspired a lot of Lilymud members to come check this place out. I also love seeing new members at Lilymud, so long as they follow the rules. ;) I know we also sometimes have a reputation for being a bit strict, but as someone who's been there for a long time, trust me, our system works well for us. And there're definitely forums out there that're far worse.

As for the member activation problems, I'm a mod, not an admin, so I don't know all the technical details about that. We have seem to have had a few problems with those lately, but if you feel your activation is taking too long, just email a staff member (preferably an admin since they're the ones who can actually activate you, but I don't mind getting emails either...I just forward the message onto an admin) and they'll get you set up rather quickly.

What exactly do you mean by picking on? If someone's flaming you or something you should report it to the staff, we certainly don't condone that sort of thing.

Eh, every forum has its pros and cons. Lilymud's certainly not perfect and I doubt this place is either...I guess certain cons just bother some people more than others. Honestly, forums like these are delightful compared to most on the web, despite any cons. The internet can be a very ugly place.

I like some forums because I don't have to watch my language and what I say...that can be a con to many people, but I love it...:D

Eh, Lilymud works for me,i love it actually, (sure, it was hard at first.. it was a large place... and the sign up thing... kind of a ritual of passage xD.. j/k); made lots of frineds there ^_^.
And i'm defenately not gonna make a comparison between there and here, cause it's just ridiculous, i mean it's like comparing green with red, but hey, they are colors right ?, some like green some like red, others.. blue, lol ... :P . All that counts is the people and how or why they post, that's all.
