I guess they are Looney Tunes. They look easy to color - black + solid.

They're going to be in a show called Loonatics, I believe. Here's a reveiw my friend did:

In the latest trend of "Xtreme!!!" marketing, Warner Brothers has decided to create a cartoon starring Bugs, Daffy, and the whole gang. The premise is that it's set in the far future, and they are a team of superheroes.

Sounds okay at the start, but if you're expecting Duck Dodgers in the 24th and 1/2 Century, guess again. They've been "updated" to look meaner, sleeker, more. . .XTREME!!!

I could be wrong. Maybe they'll still have the same old sarcastic, witty attitudes they've always had, but looking at them in that picture, I doubt it. I just can't see that Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck trading "Duck season!" and "Rabbit season!" back and forth.

But is anyone else tired of this "XTREME!!!" marketing trend? And superheroes who are essentially just ripoffs of the Batman cartoon series (sharp edges, no eye pupils, etc).

Notice that Porky isn't in that group photo? Kinda hard to give a round pig sharp edges, and a speech impediment doesn't go in line with "XTREME!!!" Elmer Fudd is probably still in. Sure, he has an odd manner of speaking, too, but he's bald, which goes in with typical villain style.

And here's what some of my other friends say about his review:

"Oh m'gosh.

Are they kidding?"

"...That was a serious article?

I read about this a couple of days ago, but I assumed it was joke. I mean, it's just such a stupid idea. I was sure that it was satire.

Make it stop, that's all I can say. Yes, I'm extremely tired of the "Xtreme" thing in cartoons. One of the reasons I like "A Very Possible Christmas" so much- it points out exactly how stupid that "Xtreme" business is. (It also belittles traditionalism, but I won't get in to that)

All I can say is how thankful I am that we not only have classic Looney Tune cartoons on DVD, but also on Cartoon Network. Wouldn't it be great if the traditional cartoon got higher ratings than the new one? I hope it does."

" notice that Lola Bunny is in that line-up...which is probably a bad sign...

Everyone knows that Lola was only introduced through Space Jam by means of pandering to all the politically correct zealots out there...why do they still insist on keeping her? I can understand their desire to include a couple of female characters, but what's wrong with the two classic ladies, Granny and Penelope? Those two don't reek of market-testing gone bad, something which Lola comes up to the tip of her ears in.

Unfortunately, I think this is serious. After all, we'd all do well to remember that they went ahead with Baby Looney Tunes, one of the most bland, schmaltzy and horribly PC pieces of drivel I've ever seen in my life (Porky Pig got severly sidelined in that cartoon too - though this female pig who'd I'd never heard of before was there - see what I mean about it being horribly-PC? Let's ignore the fact that every single character, Sylvester and Tweety included, acted like best friends for 100% of the time...).

I've just realised that all I do is complain nowadays. You guys must think I'm turning into a regular sourpuss.

And if anyone here likes Lola Bunny or Baby Looney Tunes, then my apologies in advance."

"Oh my gosh. What did they do to them?! They look evil and sadistic!

I'm oficially creeped out now. How much can you ruin a classic?"

"They look demonic.

And at least half of the appeal of Looney Tunes is the witty writing.

This is another show I definitely will NOT be watching . . ."

"I've known about this one for a while. Take a look at this article. It's kinda interesting.

http://news.toonzone.net/article.ph...e8cf1b2131290af"

"Good God but they look freakingly eval!!! *shudders* I never cared much for the original Looney Toons, but I think I'd takem them over these scary looking characters anyday."

"My mom told me about this and I thought she was just making a sick joke. Sad to see that it is actually true. How low do people have to stoop? I thought the orgional was just fine, so did my parents and their parents. Commercialism has gone too far this time. I was worried about Disney, but now I see the coruuption has leaked over to other networks and shows too. I weep for the youth of tomorrow. "
And this is what I said to them XD:

"O_O

They look like.......aliens.

I think they put Lola Bunny in there just so Bugs can have a girlfriend. XD

TeH hOrR0r!

THIS IS JUST SICK AND WRONG!

"We're talking freaks of nature!" "

Heh, I kinda figured that it had something to do with Looney Tunes at first when I saw it. Well, I comment that it is...very 'different'. I wonder who's Eisner's twin working at Warner Bros.:p

Hehe Starlioness... That pic is pretty good. Whoever drew it.

I don't really care... I don't watch TV too much. And I was never really a Looney Tunes fan, I like more serious animation.

It's not really that big of a deal guys, new episodes of Looney Tunes aren't being made, it's not like WB stopped making Looney Tunes to make this new show.

Yeah, but that's not the point. It doesn't really matter that Looney Tunes still isn't being made, it's that Looney Tunes was a good show and this is ruining it. :alone:

:cringe:Okay, in the (filming script of Grease) words of Rizzo: "Urp, slop, bring the mop."

The person(s) who concieved of this mutilated the original characters to serve to the lowest common denomimator: The people who think this is "extreme" and that the originals are "old-timers". They don't care what the people who hate it think. All they care about is how much money they make.

:huh:As far as I'm concerned, this is nothing but a piece of "fancrap" (crappy fanstuff).

I actually agree with TT on this one, I think the designs for the characters are pretty cool, as for whether the show will be good or not, who knows. I know it will never be anything like Loony toons but it's not really meant to be so it's allowed to be different.

I agree with Simba_Binti on this one. To me, it's no more than a mere abomination to a legendary set class of cartoon characters.

Boy's campaign saves Bugs Bunny

Petition convinces network to make characters less menacing

Wednesday, April 27, 2005 Posted: 4:09 PM EDT (2009 GMT)

TULSA, Oklahoma (AP) -- Eleven-year-old Thomas Adams thought Warner Bros. had gone daffy when he saw the company's plans for a new cartoon called "Loonatics," based on Bugs Bunny and his Looney Tunes pals.

The grimacing, hollow-eyed, power-fisted prototypes of a futuristic Bugs, Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner struck the boy as dark and scary. In the words of Daffy Duck, he found them "dethh-picable."

Now, nearly two months after starting an Internet petition drive against the TV series' fall debut, Thomas has gotten the company's attention.

Warner Bros. Entertainment spokesman Scott Rowe said his company wants the thousands of fans upset by the made-over characters unveiled in February to know "that's NOT all, folks." (Warner Bros. is a division of Time Warner, as is CNN.)

Those "early drawings" have been revised into characters that are softer and less menacing, he said.

"We heard the outcry from fans, including Thomas," Rowe said.

That's enough to draw an emphatic "YESSS!" from the lanky fifth-grader who started the stir with fewer than 20 signatures on a piece of paper at his private school.

Thomas couldn't figure out what was up with the plans to turn the old Looney Tunes gang into their Japanese anime-styled descendants. The prototypes depicted sword-eared superheroes, such as "Buzz Bunny," battling evil in the year 2772.

"Those weren't the Looney Tunes I know," said the boy, whose favorite classic character is the Tasmanian Devil "besides Bugs, of course."

Thomas' parents, Rachel and John Adams, suggested he might have more success by taking his drive to the Web. A family friend who runs an Internet design business was willing to help.

Between piano lessons and shooting hoops, the boy pedaled his bike to the friend's house over several evenings to work on the site's content. On February 28, www.saveourlooneytunes.com came on line.

The petition asked Warner Bros. to create entirely new characters for the series instead of "ruining" the old ones.

Within days, the response had overwhelmed the family's home computer. By late March, more than 25,000 people from around the world had signed the petition. After a CNN story on Thomas aired in mid-April, the site had tallied 80,000 signatures and 95,000 hits, the family said.

"Keep up the fight," fellow fans urged in their e-mails, calling the boy an inspiration.

The passion of fans for the old characters is understandable, said Bob Bergen, the voice actor behind Porky's stutter and Tweety's "putty tat" the past 15 years.

The "early drawings" of the original Loonatics characters.

"They've been around since the 1930s," he said. "They've been around as long as classic motion pictures."

Bergen, who decided at age 5 he wanted to be Porky Pig and "just pursued it," is not involved in the new series' development, but he cautions fans against rushing to judgment before it airs.

"The kids who are going to be seeing this are not as versed in classic Looney Tunes as these fans are," he said. "Let the target audience be the judge."

The "Loonatics" -- scheduled to air Saturday mornings come fall on Kids' WB! -- is aimed at 6-to-11-year-olds. Test groups loved it, Rowe said.

It's not intended to replaced the original characters, which appear in new episodes on Cartoon Network and classic shows on the network's station Boomerang.

"We just wanted to create something that would be accessible and fun to a new generation of kids," he said.

He said the redrawn characters will be unveiled at a later date but that "Loonatics" will remain an action-adventure show.

Thomas, who has dreams of becoming a cartoonist or comedian, hopes Warner Bros. also will continue to create new episodes for the old Looney Tunes gang.

Thrilled to have made a difference in a way his mother calls "a David and Goliath story," the young activist is considering a new protest.

"I was thinking about doing one against homework," he said.

Thank the Lord. :simbawithalo: :p
