Sorry for the double posting but here is another pic that I've drawn in my abscence. A picture of El-ahrairah and a fox from the story "The Fox in the Water" which is mentioned at the end of 'Watership Down' and is told in full in 'Tales from Watership Down' Anyway, here's the pic.

Instead of triple posting I decided to edit this one in :p hehe, a pic of my cat, which the scanner ruined because it failed to pick up all the shading on his fur.

Y'know, tis' really a shame that your scanner failed to pick up all the shading. My old scanner used to be like that, that's why I ended up getting a new one in the end.

Either way though, from what I can see there that's some quality stuff. The dragon looks awesome btw. I myself, am hopeless when it comes to drawing stuff like that. Heh. :secret:

Lunarcat that Dragon is really cool, I love the shape of his head and the way you've textured the wings, it looks great! That head is just so awesome, the shape of the eyes as well, real nice work. :D :cheese:

Bluestef that pic Tears and Rain is so sad, the expression is beautiful and I must say you've imrpoved a great deal, so well done, it's a real nice pic. :)

I know the preportions are probably WAY off, but here's a pic LKS requested. He requested a pic of him and FC;

http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/6697/lksfcrequest6ga.jpg

I think I suck with human drawing, but there ya go.

Azerane
November 12th, 2005, 12:09 AM
That's really well done KS. To me the only proportions that are off are FC's hands, they're kinda big-ish, hehe. And to me the only other thing that needs fixing is her nose, it looks a bit odd. Other than that, it's an awesome pic, LKS looks great and I love the way you've coloured FC's hair.

King Simba
November 12th, 2005, 12:11 AM
Thanks, Azzy. ^^ I'm happy with how LKS came out, just FC who's sorta the problem. xD Yeah, I figured that myself hehe. The hands and nose are sorta the weak spot for me. ;)

Azerane
November 12th, 2005, 12:20 AM
Yeah I can agree with that, hands are always tricky to draw so I try to avoid drawing them :p

LunarCat
November 12th, 2005, 05:01 PM
no worries, its a job well done for starting out with humans. Hands are the hardest body part to draw! just keep practicing and you'll be as good as Neph!

As for this picture, take a look at Stu's right arm. IF he is human, i don't believe his arm can bend that way. :p That's all! great job KS ;) :D :cheese:

Yuh-uh. *nods* Part of it could be due to the bagginess of his shirt maybe? :secret:

Anyways, thanks for the comments. :cheese: I'm more into animal/lion drawing though as I said before so don't expect too much human related work from me.

I love it, the colors especially :D But, I do agree that hands are the most trickiest body part to draw. The easiest and my most favorite part to draw is the model's hair :D

Overall, you did excellent, KS. I'd like to see more ;)

No problem, you deserve them. I would love to do an art trade, at the moment I'm behind on them but I would still love to do one. I don't have any human characters and I'm not sure if you draw lions or not, but if you like you can draw my characters as people. And yeah, let me know what you want. Link to my archive in Sig.

Part of the animation I mentioned before. If you wanna take the time to download it, it may be worth a look. Even though it's very low quality video compression, I have to say that I love .wmv, as it gives awesome compression; that means I can upload it to image hosting sites. :D

When I'm done, I plan on it being a 30 second animation of a bottle being formed from tubes, then being filled with liquid by the tubes on top, and then have the tubes fall away from the bottle

Okay, so this video hosting site occasionally has adult ads (as in, very very occasionally, once in a blue moon. I've never seen one, but some people say there are.). You've been warned.

So, basically, some little snowflake-like things that form the Digital Plains logo, which is an art site that's being built. The dynamics took a long time to figure out, and it took some very... strange... workarounds to get the logo to form from the words, but it ended up lookin pretty good. If anyone wants their name spelled in Maya particles (or Fluid Effects, for a price), I'll do it, as I already have the scene set up. Particles are free, Fluid Effects will cost you some casual advertising of Digital Plains when it's finished.

Nice pics everyone. I REALLY need to check this thread more often than I do already. *shoots self*

Anyways, here's some non TLK stuff from me. Again, working on realistic people. This was done in OpenCanvas - tis' me, LKS and FC.
I changed a few things so they looked a little different from the original photos.

Actually, I don't see anything wrong with the noses. If you're speaking about LKS's nose then probably but it was hard to make out the shape on the photo so that's probably why it's dodgy. ;P

I think mine and FC's nose is pretty fine though - keep in mind I referenced from real life photos. :bleen:

And thanks Reina. ^^ Nice picture there - <3 your humanized work. ;)

No, his nose is fine, but I think your nose is too big, FC?s and LKS?s are fine.

That's really, really good. The foggy areas look like Fluid effects in high-end 3D software that were composited in with a 2D illustration. Very nice, I'm impressed.

@Neph: To answer your question from a while back, I use Maya for modeling, and either mental ray or Pixar's Renderman to render the images I make.

:p Fluid Effects are computer generated fluids. They're very very detailed and also very very difficult; they simulate almost perfectly how fluids behave in real life. They're used in many motion pictures, such as the fog on the ship of Alien vs. Predator (if anyone saw that movie :p). You made the fog look really good, like something that could have been fluid effects that were put into a 2D image.

A concept peice for my story about a piratess. Long story short, she was originally a cat in Egypt, became cursed, and rest is pirate history. This is her brother, Ace, witnessing her transformation into a human in the ancient Egyptian temple where they found the trinket that cursed her. The story's still in the making, but I'm ptetty sure it'll go along these lines.

That's another reason why I probably prosponed the whole pet thing. :p I didn't think Malfoy would be the type of wizard to have a pet lion anyway--that's something a Gryffindor will probably have. He'd probably have something like a pet snake or something. *shrugs* Knowing him.

And I've watched the HP movies a whole lot recently and I always notice that his eyes are usually darker than the rest of his skin. Perhaps I did it a lil' too dark that time though. xD

But I guess I could've done more shadows and stuff (around his nose and cheeks.) I was meaning to do that but again, wanted to get it finished. ;)

Not nearly finished, the trigger frame needs an lLCD screen added, as well as tons of bolts and screws need to be in place. It's turning out nicely, though. Modeled after WDP Angel G7, with some body modifications, because WDP reallly screwed up the trigger and regulator this time around. Added some milling that you'd normally find in Private Label reproductions as well (which is what the model was meant to be).

I'm thinkin the white-light reflections need to be more... BAM.... if you know what I mean. :p

Yes but keep the perspective in mind. :p His right harm is bigger and fatter because it is the one closer. The left harm is smaller and thinner because it is the one furthest away. See what I mean?

Tell me about it. I had exactly the same obsession just after the first two movies came out. I had a ring binder full of Draco/Tom Felton pics--they've all been thrown out since though so no showing them here.

And yesh, the arm furthest away does look a bit off but can't expect everything to be perfect now can you? :jejeje: Unless I was a professional artist which I clearly am not. xD

Fendi's right. The arm looks as if it's only as long as the hand itself. If you want the hand at that angle, then you should really be able to see any of the arm, or alternatively make the arm longer and the body at the same angle. The other hand too is too small... keep in mind that a hand is about the size of a face. The wrist is too fat relatively, and the arm's not long enough.

Also, Draco looks like a ferret in canon, so try and reflect that. The head, too is too large for his body.

www.blender3D.org - a very very good open-source 3D app.

As for practice, almost all have a very significant learning curve (with the exception of SolidThinking's modeling tool, which owns all); once you learn to use the tools efficiently, it's actually seems more natural than drawing on paper. You can only imrove with practice, of course, but the more you practice the better you'll get.
