Secret Santa 2017 (Real Gift Exchange)

I usually try to start this thread on the first of August, sorry for the lateness! I've been visiting my family and I kept forgetting I need to start this thread!

For those of your who haven't done this with us before, this is a real Secret Santa with members on this forum. You will be sending a real gift through the mail. (So make sure you are comfortable giving out your address if you want to join) Please be aware you could be shipping internationally, so don't send super heavy gifts.

We don't really have a certain price limit, but I think anywhere from $5 to $15 is ok. But it's up to you, you can spend a little bit more, but don't go crazy. Really it's not the price that matters.

So here is how this goes, if you want to join, go ahead and PM me your email address. I will give people a month to join. So on September 16th, I will use a Secret Santa website we have been using for years, where I enter in all the email addresses, and then emails are sent to everyone, and in that email, you will get a link where you enter your wishlist and your address of where you want your gift to be sent to. Once everyone has done that, people will get an email with someone's wishlist and address so you can send them a gift! Make sure to send it in time so they receive their gift by Christmas. I know this seems early but we have been starting it this early for years so hopefully everyone has a few months or so to shop and ship their gift in time for their person to receive their gift by Christmas.

1. Deadline for joining: Saturday, September 16th.
2. How to join: PM me with your e-mail address before the above date.
3. Suggested price range for gifts: $5-$15
4. Do not reveal your identity to the person you are buying for. This goes against the aspect of it being a secret. People who reveal themselves will be banned from joining the following year.
5. It sounds cheesy, but have fun!!

I would love join this year, but (for who don't know yet) I had a cancer in my leg and had to remove this tumour, which means I'm away from work until I recover the movements of my leg :( .

For a while, I will need to wait to see what will happen in my recover...

Oh Thiago, I'm so sorry to hear that. Cancer is scary. I hope you make a full recovery. You have plenty of time to decide if you can to join. Take it easy while you rest and recover. :hugs:

Yeah I already told Sharifu a while back that I can't join. I had very hard time last year doing anything in last fall when I took Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus. So now that I'm taking Astronomy and Calculus 2 I don't think I will have a slightest chance to get it done. I'm already over overburdened by all the trigonometric substitutions and identities that we have seen and I don't think it's getting any better later on. So I feel like it wouldn't be right for me to join and possibly miss the deadline as school is not over until Dec 22nd. You guys have fun though :cheese:

Just enter your address in the same area you enter your wish list. (I typed my address in word and copy and pasted it into the wish list, just because I know it's a little weird trying to type it into the wish list area, when you hit enter to go to the next line, it kind of separates it.)

I got mine last week and have been trying so hard not to open it because it's like one of the only gifts I got this year that I don't know what it is already :P And honestly, even though I don't post very much anymore, hardly any of us do, it's just not Xmas without my TLK fandom internet friends being a part of it, I did the Lilymud art Secret Santa for way too many years. Waking up to something from The Internet is a holiday tradition and I missed participating the year or two!

I agree with you, CGW, Christmas with my online friends is so special that I really look forward to it every year. No matter how much time it passes without posting, here's Christmas to get us together again :)

I'm not sure if I got my Secret Santa gift yet. On December 22, Petteri and I drove to Oregon to spend Christmas with my family, and we will be here until January 7. About a week and a half before Christmas, I was thinking of contacting my Secret Santa through the Draw Names website and telling him/her that if they didn't ship my gift yet, to send it to my mom's address. But then I kind of forgot to do that and was busy with so many important things, such as finals. It's alright though, that just means I'll have a gift to look forward to once I get home. :D

She got me a perfect gift. I said in the list that I collect coffee mugs, but I didn't say that I specifically aim for the TALL style mugs, because they can be hard to find and the shorties are a little sturdier and smaller if someone overseas got my name.

Lo and behold, it was a tall one! With a terrific soothing color palette that weirdly matches my household color scheme, so even when I'm lazy and leave it on the end table all day with cold coffee in it it will still look harmonious somehow. o_O I love that it's got that pencil sketch look, too.

I wanted to draw a picture in your card because hyenas are fun to draw but they also give me a little bit of a challenge, and I wanted to try drawing Tafauti. Plus I like your art and you were the first person I did an art trade with on TLKFAA, so I felt it was special to draw something for you. =D Here's the drawing inside her card if anyone else would like to see it:

I wanted it to look like Tafauti was trying to catch snowflakes on her tongue, but I think I should of tilted her head back a little more, but I think I was already having a little difficultly drawing her face and mouth like that. :p

I'm not sure who my Secret Santa was. I just got some packages in the mail and the slip that came with them said, "From your Secret Santa." I guess my Secret Santa didn't want to reveal who they were in the end. :lol: Anyways, he/she gave me The Alchemy of Animation Book, a cute little T-Rex necklace, and a pair of socks that have wolves on them. My Secret Santa gave me a lot of gifts! Thank you so much! :hugs:

My SS was Nit, and here's what he got me:
-A really cool Legend of Zelda wallet
-A drawing he commissioned for me
-A picture he took at the Woodstock Festival in Poland, which I hope to attend to some day :3 (I asked for something cultural from your country/state, hehe)
-Some Polish coins (I collect stuff from other countries, coins included)
-Some tasty Polish sweets, which got here in good condition ^^
