The guy popped up out of nowehere and offered to pay for our site for us. I KNOW he was never a member of the original Lea, under Mufasa. Someone explian to me why we trusted a guy none of us ever met to manage our site? I'm not saying he was a bad guy(Hey, anybody with Auron for an Avy is cool in my book), but was it really smart to fall in line behind the guy because he flashed money at us?

I think Simba 04 found him and payed him to help create the new Lea.

Yeah S'04 hired him to create Lea again. He didn't actually pay us anything he got money from it from S'04. And the site was actually making money for him from the ads rather than him paying for it.

Sounds to me like he basically scammed S'04. When it comes to running the site, we need to stick to actuall members of the comuity, whom we know will be around and not just run off we people's money.
Anybody speak with 04 lately?

I do hope that at least some of the money generated by the ads was being used to fund the site...

Me too. I hope he didn't spend the money on something else rather than using it to fund Lea. That would be pretty crap. http://static.websimages.com/JS/Punymce/plugins/emoticons/img/dry.gif
And I agree with having people run Lea that actually care and who are actually around, rather than someone who just disappears off the face of the Earth and is practically unreachable. I'm sure this wouldn't happen again if that was the case.

Well that is the plan right now. But as I said in other thread. Starting up is expensive as Vbulletin is 195 dollars. One time payment thought. So once that is done. It's paid for and after it will cost around 50 dollars a year to run the website due the hosting and web address costs. I have talk to quite a few members about how much it cost and pretty much everyone have been wanting to pitch in to pick up the costs which is great. I'm very greatful to see how much the site means to so many people. But yeah Lea is nice little community and it has started many friendships and even quite a few relationships.
I do want to mention it again thought. It's absolutely voulenteered, no body is required to pitch in, but every little bit helps.

I'm looking at forum prices at the moment. Go daddy has 36 month subscription for 2.99 a month and We could either try to buy the website off Yuvraj or try to get our old Leahalalela.com back. But nothing is decided yet.

I allowed for him to have access to my godaddy account so he could set up the permissions and what not for the domain so that he could have my account pointing toward his domain. well...he didn't like not having control over the domain and so he some how took over it with his account (I changed my godaddy pw once I found out what he did but it was too late). I've tried numerous times over the past couple of years to buy the vbulletin license from him and to allow for me to have my domain back but he has been ignoring all of my messages.

...ya know, I was wiling to give Yuvraj the benefit of the doubt and that this was all just an unfortunate misunderstanding. Now I'm angry...not only as a forum member but as someone who works in the web development field and regularly has access to her clients' registrar accounts. That kind of behavior...it's appalling.

I don't want to speculate too much on this, but the WHOIS lookup for leahalalela.net puts the registrant's address at one Delhi Motors (a car dealership?) in Batala, Punjab, India, which for the life of me I cannot find any record of (but not that I've looked very hard). According on one report, he also owns "about 17 other domains."

Sounds like a textbook scheme for raking in ad money, and if indeed that's his plan, he is probably doing it to many others as well.

There's a great lesson here, but certainly one that was hard-learned.

Also, UGGGH this formatting...

So there we are then, it doesn't look like the... uh... old new Lea? is coming back. Is everything we made on that forum gone too now? :\

Leahalalela - the Phoenix Forum...or Zombie Forum.
We've "died" twice but we keep kickin'...hopefully we'll recover what we've lost but if we don't we're more than capable of creating things anew. XD

I'm not sure how much of this needs an airing-out in public, but playing detective with some of Yuvraj's dox is turning up some... rather interesting results. The more I look, the less I like what I see.

It goes without saying, Lea will be infinitely better off on its own, and things will surely be back to normal soon enough. Then I can get back to my lurking. http://static.websimages.com/JS/Punymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smile.gif
