View Full Version : What to do when you die?

I was just wondering about this ...
Thinking about how much all my stuff has costed me in the past 20 years.
What would happen to my stuff if I die? Unfortunatly I can't take it with me, though I keep saying "I'm taking it all down with me!" haha
Then I thought, a toy museum, but there's only 1 in Belgium as far as I know, and I think they'll much rather put it in storage somewhere.
Then an orphanage ... but I don't think I could stand knowing all the stuff might get ruined, lol.
I need to make something about this in my future will

I've already told my family to do whatever with it. I'd love for it to be auctioned to future fans and collectors, but the only part of it that I really want with me is Lovey!Simba. He can be cremated with me. :p

well, i wouldnot like to see my belongings going to a person like my brother which destroy everything he puts his hand...
how im dead, i know my family would sell or donate everything (or give to my brother)
To me, im more worried with the way i would die, because i don“t like even see someone sick with a cāncer for example passing days, weeks , months suffering in hospital....i rather prefer dying quickly

I didn't give much thoughts on what will happen with my "collection" after I've died.
You see, I'm not really afraid of dying, but hey that's me.. And I don't really care what people will do with my collection. But I am worried about the communities that I host. Yeah... I know that quite strange. But I'd hate to leave people behind and then the websites might be closed.
So I took certain steps concerning my internet projects.
In case something happend only to me, my husband surely would carry on my projects. He's also a dedicated lionking fan and he knows how much these projects mean to me.
But what if anything happend to both of us?
A few years ago, I've passed a kind of "last will" to a RL friend in which all relevant information on my websites is stored. Such things as log ins, usernames, passwords, license numbers, etc. I've known him for quite a long time, and I know I can trust him. Along with these things, I also told him to whom he should pass the infos. So I know even after I'm gone, the forums won't vanish and are in good "paws". One thing less to worry about ^^

I see you really gave it much thought and that's a nice solution. Never think of the case when the forum admin pass away, but let's hope that's not gonna happen. ;-)
Honestly I didn't think of it much. The money goes to my parents and they donate it to some open source projects I am/was working for and my belongings are mostly going to friends or my parents keep them. But the TLK stuff most likely goes to thrash, I guess. Which is actually a shame, so it's a good point to give them some instruction to post a list in the forum and reserve some money for shipping. ^^

If I have terminal cancer or something I would easily write it to someone who willing to keep it like my close friend.
If I died suddenly like an accident? I would generally haunt someone who wrongly took my belonging  :haha: :roar:

I don't really care what happens with my stuff after I die. If kids end up getting it and playing with it, why would it matter to me? It's not like I will be able to get those items again after I'm gone. And I really doubt any museum would want my things either.

Well, it really all depends how long it is from now before I die. In 60 years I might not even give two stuffs about my TLK things, if I even had them anymore. If I died tomorrow, I would probably want for Pat to keep the few really special things in my collection, like my cericel, the art of book, and my magazines, maybe a figurine or two. But as far as I'm concerned, the rest can go to other fans or an op shop. I won't even know, since I'll be dead :p In regards to fan sites and stuff, I had wondered about that before, I would like to think that Pat would get in contact with people online to pass the word. I suppose people might see something on my facebook page if family or local friends posted on there. I dunno :P
I don't want to think about my death too much

Well honestly, I would rather my items go to other fans, so contacting people on fan websites or selling on ebay probably would be nicest since I've kept my stuff in good condition. But I really have no control what happens to my stuff when I die. If it's easier for my family to give it away to a thrift shop, then so be it.

I know where my soul is going when I leave this world(being religious a bit here). I'v made it clear that I wish for my body to be creamated and the ashes spread in the wild(want it to be Alaska, but seeing as how far away that is, I'd settle for the mountains of Vermont/New Hampshire.), so the earth can reuse what I am done with.
my possessions would be split between my two nephews(the lion king stuff and other plushies for the younger one, who has full blown Autism).

Nice to read this all, but it was in the lion king section, so I just meant, what about your lion king stuff ;)
I have no desire in wanting to know what happens to more personal belongings.
Maybe I should have been more clear in my first post :p

Collectable stuff i would like to go to a decent TLK fan that will look after it.
As for the playful things, i wouldn't mind at all if it went to children in orphanages/hospitals etc. If my stuff brings happiness when i die, then then is all that matters. ^^

Preferably I'd give away most of my TLK stuff long before I'm ready to kick the bucket, or if I ever have children and they like the movie, pass some stuff on to them. It seems as time goes on I'm starting to become less inclined to buy a bunch of stuff that's just going to end up in a box. That doesn't stop me from wanting to buy things, though. I've got a few boxes of TLK stuff in the garage currently. Maybe I should think about giving some of it away soon. It would be convenient if Sharifu or Sadiki wanted some of it ... that would only involve moving a box a few feet. :zazuwhisper:

I've always had that silly dream of creating a lion king museum someday, but that's too big of an ambition(let alone copyright issues:P).
And my collection isn't that huge anyway.
I guess,as others pointed out as well, giving it to a lion king fan or anyone that would be happy with them would be ideal.:)
