not gonna waste time by putting down prices but I would spend it on
-Big house with pool in Florida close to Disney with guest bedrooms for people who visit.
-A place in Africa, Safari thing like STL
-Nice car
-Give some money to charitys working in Africa
-Money aside for traveling bout 10k
-Put rest in bank and use when needed

Instead of donating to a charity or charities, I would use the money to allow myself to directly help those in need. For example, if I wanted to help lions, I'd learn all I can about them and then travel to Africa to work alone or with other people to ensure their survival. It may be overly cynical not to want to let other people do the work for me provided I gave them money -- but I'd rather do it myself.

Other than that, sounds like a good plan for that magical money. :)

Longleat is hell of a close to me STL bout 20mins been there four times or so. Tried to get my work experince down there but failed 2.

1) Big house with swimming pool
2) Nice car for when I'm older
3) Holiday for me and my family to either Australia, America, Kenya etc.
4) Donate some money to the Born Free foundation
5) Put rest in bank until needed.

and STL, that would be awesome!

EDIT: The nearest Safari park to where I live is Knowsley Safari Park near Chester. I won't be able to get work experience there though. Too bad it's too far away, I'd love to work with Lions. :(

Over here we have an organisation called Monkey World (http://www.monkeyworld.org/) which does just that (only with primates), they are a completely seperate entity from all the other animal rescue charities and foundations. What they do is they rescue primates who have been treated badly and bring them back to the park where the animals can live out the rest of their lives (most of the time the animals are either too old or injured to be relocated to the wild) and also they work with the local authorities in the coutries they visit to make sure that the people who have been misstreating the animals (often protected species) are dealt with apropriatly.

Now I have actually been considdering the possibility of setting something like this up for big cats (to my knowledge there isn't such an orginasation, in England anyway) but it'd probably cost a bit more that a million so that's be where my million would go, after it's sat in the bank for a while collecting interest ;)

Failing that it'd probably go on the usual.
Flat in Brentford,
BMW Z3,
Frell-off big TV, etc, etc =D

You should've invested the remaining 100,000 pounds!

Anyways, for me it would be...
Enough for college education
An Aston Martin Vanquish
A large house in somewhere in Alaska
Enough for a lifetime supply of gasoline (the Vanquish eats the gas too quickly)

And then I'd invest the rest.

EDIT: Actually, I'd need a chopper if I was living in Alaska to get around places. I'd also have a home somewhere in the continental US (most likely in Colorado) so I could actually drive the Vanquish because Alaska has very few roads.

And sorry about the double post... XD

Hmm i would take 250,000 and place it in a CD or secure back account. I would then take 200,000 buy a house. 50,000 and buy a nice car. I would then spend 250,000 traveling the world. I would then place 200,000 in blue chip stocks and i would live the rest of my life on the interest of it.

Sad part is my uncle won 11.9 million dollars in the latto and i havent seen a dime of it.

Apart from a house and a nice (normal) car I would go to the BBC and ask to join their documentary crews in Africa.

Now if I had just a little more say 4 or 5 million I would buy a property in Africa and make it a Safari destination as a way to conserve a piece of the environment in Africa. There was a 26,000 acre (if I remember correctly) piece of land bordering the Kalahari Nat. Park for sale not too long ago with 3 Safari camps and all the paperwork necessary for tourist operation for $3.3 Million USD.

Heheh, makes me feel kind of lucky LTS, as my family's moving to florida next summer to a big house with a nice pool, gonna suck leaving all my friends though, plus I'll be going to college.

As for the million, I'd keep 500,00 and use it to pay for college and a decent car. And save the rest of it for any expenses that may come up in the future so I never really have to worry about cash.

Of the other half a mil... I'd split 100,000 between my closest friends and relatives, and donate the last 400,00 to various animal foundations, mostly ones to help save the tiger and the cheetah. (My two favorite animals, go figure ;) )

I don't really need to many fancy things, as after college, my hope is to work with exotic animals, most likely with tigers at a facility in South Carolina if everything works out.

I'd have to say that if I had $1,000,000 I would do what I've done with my $700,000... spend $150,000 in two years and have little to show for it, and have the rest locked away from myself for 10-20 years!! *sigh* this thread came at a bad time!! I would buy a house here in San Jose CA, so my Mom and sister can move back here and we can live in that house and live together again in the city we love so much. And with the extra money I would get my mom this operation (or it was some kind of procedure, she told me about this long ago) that she wanted (and I think needs) because she has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and it helps people with that feel so much better, like they don't have that syndrome anymore. She's in pain a lot and I wish I could pay that for her to get it. And if I still had more money, I would put it in the bank.

If I had a million dollars....now that song is stuck in my head.
:eww:

Anyway, let's see....

A) pay off my school loans, pay back my aunt who supplied the bulk of my college expenses there were NOT covered by scholorship/loans.

B) go to graduate school

C) perhaps buy a new computer

D) donate some to cancer/leukemia/AIDS research

E) donate some for the preservation/exploration/restoration of historical sites.

Anything left over will be put away into a savings account to happily collect interest...which could be important, beause if I ever have children, money will be crucial for a good education, clothing, etc. Kids are expensive.
Oye...

That's not true, my parents are getting a house built in Florida for a little more then 300,000 with a nice pool and it is a big house, about twice as big as the one we have now, and the one we have now houses 5 people fairly comfortably. It all depends where you look, cause houses just like 20 miles away from it closer to tampa are like 3 times as much, but that's insane.

With college tuition prices going up the way they are...I don't even want to think about how expensive it will be to send my kids to college in the future.

Not to mention the cost of living. It's hard enough to scrape together enough money to live where I live. (relatively close to New York City).
I know people who are working three jobs and they just barely get by, and they have a one bedroom house. Their two kids sleep on bunk beds in the living room. It's a good save on furniture for watchng TV on, but it's kind of cramped.

And the price just keeps growing and growing. I'll probably have to move sometime within the next year, if I want to keep the shirt on my back.

here everything is free... I mean studing. University, high school and all that stuff. You just have to get books by your own. Or ofcourse I know that those are not free, but they use tax money on it and that is why we have so high tax rate. Like if you earn about 12 000? in a month you pay at least 45% taxses and if you earn 2000? in a month you have to pay at least 15% taxses + about 8% other taxses... so not hard to beleave why companies like Nokia thinking about moving their headcompany to some other country.

Pay off debts. Start investing in real estate. Grow the money as much as possible, and once retirement hits (or close to it), decide how much of it should go to heirs and how much to some philanthropic purpose. There's your generic, fiscally sound answer.

Fendi, here in America, I think a million dollars will probably get you only the foundation and ground floor of the Lea Halalela tower, if that :p

Me win a million dollars? Ha.

Well, if I DID actually have the luck to win a large sum of money like that, I'd first sell my house and buy a new, bigger one. And then I'll probably buy myself a car--even if I haven't learnt how to drive yet. :p

Then, I guess I'd book a holiday for us all to Kenya so we can all go on Safari with eachother. Then, that'd be a big bonus for us all then cos' we would've all met eachother IRL then. xD

Instead of me just going alone with my sister and parents. :jejeje:

So yeah, that'd connect with the whole "Lea Holiday" idea.

Because I so hate this house we live in :s

Then, I could finally go to college, which I don't have the money for now.

 Maybe not even that much. I think $1,000,000 will only buy the location of the building:p

Anyway, as for me, I'd probably spend it on laser eye surgery, a new house for my parents, a car, college, charity, and...I'll probably lend a dollar or two to my siblings...maybe...

i would by a bungalow in the countryside, and get an excavation team to dig 8 floors underground, to make it massive :D

then i would pay linda enough money to come to london for a couple of weeks

invest some in going to university, get myself a mazda rx8 (i <3 that car :D) and put the rest in the bank and dip into it when needed :D

Hmmm...:hmm: I would buy a house for me and Shaun. :D And employ a cleaner. :D Haha. And go on holidays to see some of my online friends. I've never been abroad before, and I have always wanted to travel, so I would do that. :D

And I would host a TLKoB party. :D In London. We would all meet up (after I paid for your travel) and go see the show, and then have a VIP party backstage afterwards...and I can meet the sexy Simba. =D Ok - so that's not that realistic, hehe.

Aww, but we could do the TLKoB party, people just have to pay for it themselves, hehe :cheese:

December 22nd, 2005, 12:23 PM
Don't know about that yet.

Only if I can travel along with someone from Paris to London.

And also, my sister could be comming with me to Paris ('Cause I don't wanna travel alone, hehe)

If my parents say she can't come, I'll talk to Bart about it :D
'Cause it's already kind of hard to save up for Paris alone.

I'd give most of it away to missionaries, Christian college students, and local Churches that are in financial need. Then I would give a large portion to my uncle so he can finally build his Church and then I would probably use about a few thousand for me to go through a Christian college and then maybe use a little bit of it for a mission trip that I can go on :cheese:

I would most likely donate it all to homeless people charity.I mean, for heaven's sake, they don't even have a house. Not even a crummy, dirty, apartment.

No, seriously.

In the event that Sessler and Pereira cost less than $1,000,000 [likely], I would buy myself a house in San Fran and donate some money to 924 Gilman St. :3

And spend the rest on Green Day swag!

PS, Suki. It's 'canon', not 'cannon'.

No, seriously. The tricky part about donating to some homeless people is that some would spend the money on drugs/alcohol, and most wouldnt know how to use the money to benefit themselves. I'd most likely donate the money to a food drive, or create some sort of educational center for homeless people so they could learn how to take care of themselves and get jobs.

Agree with Xin, I guess you don't give money to them because mostly they will use the money for bad things. Try to use the money to build up something benefit for them. ;)

I'd put about 300,00 in the bank to keep safe. Then I'd buy a decent house for like 200,000, then get 20,000 to trick out my Mustang and get a new dirtbike for me and my dad. Then spend however much it costs to get through college. After that I'll donate to charity and do something nice for my friends and family.

I'd buy...

...A semi-large tract of land in the middle of nowhere, East Africa
...A modest dwelling, complete with Secret Underground Bunker of Doom
...A large stockpile of weapons, including (but not limited to) a G-3 SG/1 (http://www.hkpro.com/g3sg1.htm), a Barret M82A3 (http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn02-e.htm), an STI Eagle 6.0 (http://www.stiguns.com/guns/Eagle6/Eagle6.html), and various others
...A Mil-Spec M1114 Hum-Vee (http://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m998.htm)
...A Huey Gunship (http://www.aircav.com/huey/uh1.html)
...Large quantities of ammunition, diesel, and aviation fuel
...some random and/or menial things that aren't worth mention

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v118/Shatara/bumms/hide.gifhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v118/Shatara/bumms/ebil.gif That. :bleen:

Oh, and maybe a OV-10D NOGS (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v118/Shatara/ov-10.jpg) too, but I'm prolly pushing the $1M mark as it is x)

goes to show how old the old one was, I had to fix my smiley URLs :gasp:

Oh, and canon-thumpers are quite annoying, regardless of the fandom they reside in. When they show up, I tend to bust out the artillery (http://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/lw155-2.jpg) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v118/Shatara/bumms/haha.gif

Invest it, take the earnings and start an animation studio & visual effects studio, though I'd also be able to afford some very expensive schooling for my employees, like Gnomon Workshop in Hollywood.
