BEST DAY EVER! In African Animals class, she had a slide at the end of the handout that said "surprise!" When we got to it, the surprise was that she fired up the Lion King DVD and we had to identify the animals we've learned about in the COL and IJCWTBK scenes! She loves TLK a lot.

Here were my lists:

COL
------
Nyala
Meercat
Cheetah
African Elephant
Thompson's Gazelle
Reticulated Giraffe
Plains Zebra
Leafcutter Ants
Lion
Mandrill
Rhesus Monkeys
Ostrich
Oryx
Black Rhino
Besa
Flamingo
Kudu

IJCWTBK
-----------
Flamingo
Lion
Ostrich
Black Rhino
Plains Zebra
Masai Giraffe
Hippo
Nile Crocodile

AAAND, she even knew that the anteaters weren't from Africa... a true TLK fan.

(I know these lists aren't complete... additions?)

What can't be right?

Could you have hornbill in the list of animals in IJCWTBK? Zazu's part of the song afterall. ;)

Oh and the leaf-cutters in CoL aren't African either. They're from Central and South America and Texas. I've seen some in my backyard once. It was cool. :D I actually just read an article about what would happen if leaf-cutters were introduced to the Caribbean. The author also hypothesized on the impact they'd have in sub-Saharan Africa. Interesting stuff.
