only my second post here, ah well...I had typed this up a few nights ago and it's just sitting around my computer. so I may as well post it here. I might continue it, not sure...let me know whatcha' guys think though. ^_^ it's a random little poem from nala's point of veiw, looking back on her cubhood and such. and I'm loosely basing it off of the musical, concerning how Scar tries to take Nala as his mate. I still say they should've animated Shadowlands into the movie...

~~~
do you remember when we sang the song,
full of fun and play, our minds so free...
colors of our fantasy, we'd dance the whole day long.
where anything we wanted, we could make it real,
full of creativy and energy, our imaginations would soar
nothing could stop us, for in our paradise we ruled
I even remember how funny it was, when you'd work on your "roar"
we saw the world through the eyes of innocence,
and we'd not listen to a word of what they said...
the best of friends we were, nothing more, and nothing less.
we'd wrestle and tumble, play was our only concern,
although I always pinned you, and to this very day...
you'd think you would've learned.
the world was bright then, and the beauty of our cubhoods strong,
it felt as if the laughter would go on and on, we had all we needed...
so why is it, I wonder, it didn't seem to last very long?
in and instant, my world had cracked. the day the lights had faded.
and no words could heal the wounds, no one could help. my song was gone.
our song.
the song of our cubhood.
the time went on slowly, the land grew harsh and dry.
the herds moved on, the food grew scarce, yet I grew.
I set my mind to other things, and I learned the way of the hunt,
I was a huntress, although the prey was few.
perhaps what I really learned was how to hide myself,
for I had never forgotten...
my childhood playmate, my brother and friend.
then the day came, as I watched in horror.
the pride grew thin and weak, hungry.
the "king" refused to leave in search of other lands,
and he wanted something more, what he desired...was me.
a slash to his face and I turned to run,
I'd made up my mind, I'd leave myself...
long ago were those days of fun.
to save my pride, to save myself...surely there was something more,
out there...far from the lands I knew so well...
the miles dragged out in front of me, my paws grew weak and sore,
somehow I felt as if something, someone were calling to me.
many times I wondered what I was doing, what was I searching for...
:tears:
~~~

as I said, I might continue it...to where she finds Simba again and so on. for now, however, here it is. I'm not good at poetry, I just type up these things sometimes at 6 am. enjoy...

edit: did I say short? XD aha...welll, umm, mwa.

Dun put your work down like that Akiko, I thought it was great.:browlift:

And yeah, I like so many others wish shadowlands had been animated for the movie. The morning report was 'cute' I guess, but nothing more really.

Anyways, great poem!=D

wow, thankies everyone! o.o :D oh, and don't mind me...I have ego issues.^^;;; I rarely see anything good in the stuff I do. thank you all so much though, it really means a lot...and I'll continue it soon...

I've actually got a collection of tlk poems, including one about scar/taka and him looking back on /HIS/ past...which is, needless to say, an interesting veiwpoint. :thinks: and I did another of simba, not really his thoughts, but more like...a poem-ish story about him as he runs from the pridelands. eh, emotional stuff. it's fun. ;)

thanks again everyone...and I'll post more soon.

I think that might be a little discouraging for members to join Boosy. They might think the forum is dull, which it most certainly is not, just saying they might think that if you put that. Hmm.. maybe rephrased it could work though, so good idea just the same. :hugs:

Yeah, it does make the forum look like it's empty and needs people to hang around. :wicked:

Great poem...but then I'm biased about all things Nala related!
;)

Where can I find more information about 'Shadowlands'? e.g. What is it? And what does it change about the film?

This is the sort of thing I really should know but I haven't come across it in my TLK web searches yet...

All help gratefully received! :D
