I've met a few.
Willem Defoe-played The Green Goblin in Spiderman
Jim Varney- Voice of Slinky Dog in Toy Story 1 & 2
David Copperfield- magician
Paul Gleason-played the principal in The Breakfast Club
Julie McCullough-played Kirk Cameron's girlfriend on Growing Pains
Cynthia Rhodes-played Penny in Dirty Dancing (the tall blonde)
The Rock-wrestler He was buying sunglasses at,well, the SUNGLASS hut
Jean Claude Van Damme- in a bar in New Orleans (kinduva jerk though)
Adrian Paul-played Duncan McLeod in Highlander tv series
There's been a couple more but I can't remember right now who they were. Not really big stars but it makes for an interesting thread I guess.

Robin Williams comes through the store I work at every so often, as does Danielle Steel, the author (she actually looks for her own books on the shelf). I've also met dozens of authors you might have seen on TV or in reviews, when they've come to my store to do book signings, but honestly names go in one ear and out the other--I'm not a heavy reader. Most notably, Clive Barker and Dexter Scott King (Martin Luther King Jr's son). Except for Robin Williams I don't think these are any people you'd recognize on the street.

Sean Connery wins all of our school's basketball games. :cheese: A friend of mine has a Sean Connery mask which he wears to all the Boy's Varsity Games, and they've won each time he wears it. That, and the awesome pep band. Go band geeks! http://ia.imdb.com/media/imdb/01/I/25/05/12m.jpg

He is in Belgium to give a special concert for only 200 peoples here in Brussels.
But at 14.00h, he was also in Hasselt (state in Belgium). And a friend of mine wanted to go there, but she didn't knew the way.
I use to live close by Hasselt, and I said I knew the way there.
And then she asked me if I wanted to come along.
She's got 90 photo's, and I have got 6 * haha *

I've heard from my tutor that if one can reach the speed of light one can travel back in time.
Doesn't sound logical to me, but it'll be kinda hard to break the light barrier. 300 miles/second. ;)

March 21st, 2004, 03:23 AM
No, it's true Kovu. The stars we see every night, most of them are already dead, burnt out, ya know. But the light somehow is still shining to us. It's really confusing
SimbaLKD
March 21st, 2004, 05:47 AM
you got the basic concept Leo.. but.. light travel is imposible by a person.. for many reasons.. biggest being *anything* that travels at the speed of light would practicly split at an atomic level.. thats why the packets of light we recive are just a bunch of electrons collectively known as photons..
And a bit of a trivial fact when light travels (at the speed you guys said) it dosent know where its going so it just flays all sorts of random ways.. not straight.. basicly the darn photon's are drunk  muhaahaha
kcnmttcnn
March 21st, 2004, 05:51 AM
 drunk photons
so if someone can travel at that speed, they would split and go in different diretions?

This is interesting, to read about who some of you have met, or who you are even related to! I've met Captain Harris and Lieutenant Proctor from the Police Academy movies, LeVar Burton from Reading Rainbow/Star Trek, and Gary Senise from Forrest Gump/etc. Although, the meetings were rather brief. I couldn't even tell you what was said. :hehe:
:alone: Also, I've met a singer that I used to be such a huge fan of. Some of you may know her. Shakira. :grrr: Ignoring the fact that she hugged me at my own request and then kissed me on the cheek, her ultimate change from humble chica from Barranquilla to pop princess belting notes in English has since turned me away. It's so unfortunate. :(
But that's enough of the bad seed and ultimately a completely different topic. Let's get back on track, shall we? :knowdees:

Hmm...I haven't really met anyone famous besides a few baseball players and shooting around with a former college basketball star and a couple NFL players. I've talked with Paul Molitor, he's a cool guy, pretty smart. He used to play ball for the Milwaukee Brewers and he is a member of the 3000 hits Club. I've shot around with Miles Simon. Played ball with a dude named Ash who used to be a Wide Receiver for the San Diego Padres, and some other dude who is a Wide Receiver for the Arizona Cardinals.
But I'm related to Ulysses S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, Poncho Villa, and the Sheriff who was shot in the back in Tombstone which kinda led to Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday to come to the area.....:D

Yesterday I was casually roaming aimlessly around the ?Net, as one does, in search of Red Dwarf related stuff (you can only imagine what you?re missing if you?ve never heard of it) and this (http://www.eveningadvertiser.com/search/display.var.676478.0.red_dwarf_crew_land_in_swindo n.php) happened to catch my eye. :cheese: I did mention it to my almost equally RD-fanatically mum who was just as excited as I was and since we happen to live no more than an hour or two?s drive from Swindon, plus the date falls during my school?s Easter break, we have *considered* attending ? but with our luck I?m sure it?ll turn out we overlooked some microscopic little booking or such-related detail and my hopes will go down in flames just as the plans for an RD movie seem to have done? :( And take it from me: never, EVER give a child a name with at least ten spelling variations if you expect them to lead a full, happy life ? I?m sure having a national celebrity spell my name ?Catheryn? would an embarrassment of the highest disastrousness? but in any case, as far as I know it?ll be the closest the original cast have ever been to my hometown, and that alone gives me a wee little thing to be excited about.
Anywho, the point is that this once-in-a-lifetime chance has lead me to wonder: how many of this forum?s noble citizens have ever had the honour of a Close Encounter of the Celebrity Kind? Not just the Dwarfers, but absolutely anyone local, nation or international? Who with? When? Where? Did you walk away with a new number on your cellphone, or did you succumb to any embarrassing urges that lead to an incident you?d much rather forget? Oh, and should I eventually pluck up the courage I?d need to attend the signing: would anyone happen to have any advice on proper etiquette around celebs? How to make a decent first impression without coming across as either a nervous jibbering geek who can?t string a sentence together or someone who?d wrestle a Despair Squid tooth and nail simply to embarrass his or herself? Not like I?m expecting anything to happen, mind? :hehe:
So far in my fifteen years of being I haven?t had the great fortune/embarrassment of exchanging so much as a glance with a household name ? aside from very, very briefly catching sight of Des Lynon (sp?) signing copies of his autobiography in my local WHSmith?s. Having zero interest in old geezers droning on in the background of equally yawnsome sports, I wasn?t fazed in the least? although my parents *have* mentioned an occasion on which they both spotted Craig Charles in a London bar before I was born :D They *claim* to have played it as cool as possible, so I can rest assured that there was no truth in a recent dream I had in which Craig called up to claim paternity of me? :o which was spooky as I suppose I do look a *bit* like him. I wonder if the gene for dormouse cheeks can be passed on through sharing men?s toilets?
(Sidenote: this could quite possibly be the most concise, straight-to-the-point post I?ve ever done ? I really ought to get into the habit, y?know. =) I apologize if it seems a little bit rushed, but I do have to dash back to boarding school :cringe: in about ten minutes so bear with me!)

Katifa, could you explain what Red Dwarf is? I have never heard of it/them.
I have never even come close to meeting a celebrity. The best I can do is having gone to church with a local legendary radio announcer.
Scratch that. I met professional WWE wrestler, Booker T, once. Just your odinary autograph signing.

I've seen some celebs on Broadway show; like the guy who played Roger in the "The Producers" was also the same guy that was in the show that I saw. :D
I think that's it, I met Ms. Pennslyvania of 2005 at my jr. high school last year.
