I'm almost 28, and my mom just invited herself into MY room while I was gone for the weekend, and decided to wash my lion king pillows, which clearly showed holes in it, and she destroyed one of them :(
I'm almost 28 for crying out loud, stay out of my room, I have no privacy at all here :(
I know she didn't mean to break it completely, but she could have at least called me or texted me, that it happened.
And I'm just more upset I guess that it's Lion King and the fact she just walked in here.
I was looking for a place of my own, but with my boyfriend now, I just kept thinking "I'll try and stay home for a while longer, so I can save up, for a place the 2 of us can afford".
I immidiatly noticed both pillows gone, and when I went downstairs to ask where they were, just bursted out in laughter !!
What ??? She ruined something that means so much to me, and all she could do was laugh :tears:
But I guess, I'm going to have to start my search again to a place of my own...

Aww, no, it's completely ruined :mufasaworried: Sorry to hear that, Nathalie :hugs: I wouldn't think she meant to rip it, but if her response was to just laugh, that makes me quite annoyed... It's quite disrespectful.
Yes, maybe a "Keep out" sign would be in order xP And perhaps a new place to stay. I hope you'll find something soon :3

Aww, that sucks. I'm sorry to hear that it was destroyed. I'm sure she didn't mean to ruin it, but I still understand about the privacy issue. I hope you can sort things out.

Aww, man... I would hate something like that to happen to my TLK stuff. :\ Like everyone else has said, I'm sure she didn't mean it, and she probably just laughed because she didn't know how much that cushion meant to you. Either way, I can understand how you feel, and I hope things get sorted out soon. :hugs:
Methinx you should make a "Keep Out" sign :mufasaworried: *hugs*
Maybe a lock accompanied with the "Keep Out" sign would do the trick too. :thinks:

It sucks that she ruined something that meant so much to you, and didn't even seem sorry about it. :[ Even though you're living in their house your parents should still have respect for your property...

I know she didn't mean to ruin it.
But yeah, she just kept laughing :s
I still don't see the funny part ...
Thanks Safila for the link, but I'm not looking for pillow cases.
My 2 pillows are just the fabric with inside the filling.
Keep out sign and a lock aren't allowed.
(my sister locked her door a while ago ... my dad went bazerrrrrrk)
And I don't feel like I need to lock my door, she just has to stay out, or at least tell me about it.

That's what comes with living in someone else's property. You have to follow their rules.
In America, adult children who pay their parents for lodging are legally recognized as a tenant and have a constitutional right to privacy. Going into your area without your permission would be illegal.

I'm sorry Nathalie your pillow got ruined :hugs:
Thought I do think buying a pillow case and filling it up with filling or by putting a pillow inside and then sawing it together would be same as buying a pillow, wouldn't it?

I'm weird like that :p
Feral: I actually do pay to "stay in this room" :s
Guess it's only fair ... it's not something we questioned. My brother did the same thing 15 years ago.
My mom afterall does do my laundry and stuff, hehe.
I can do it too, no problem in that, but it needs to be "her way", so I just leave her to it.
I just feel I need to have a little privacy when I'm gone for the weekends, even though she is my mom, I don't think she really has the right anymore, to just walk into a room of her 28-year old "kid" while it's not home.

Nathalie, im really sorry in hearing that, as I too have so much care for the objects I love.
For me, when i started having my privacy being damaged by my parents, i needed to be radical: i bought a strong lock and everything inside my room, even cleaning it, is made by myself. It may sound very radical but was the solution of my problems. I got tired from my parents damaging my things, and after laughing at my face.

I agree with this. And perhaps some pepper spray would help too >.> whether you're a guest and its her house or not, you don't need to take that crap. Perhaps you should shrink her clohtes in the dryer lol

Well, instead of just making a new thread, it fits perfectly in this one. I knew I mentioned it on here ...
This time, I can start with:
I'm almost 31, and my mom just invited herself into MY room while I was gone, and decided to clean my room!
Nothing wrong with that I suppose ...
But, I have 4 plastic containers next to my bed, all filled with TLK.
On top of the first box, there was a lot of stuff aswell, still from my last trip to London, 4 TLK figures, TLK postcards, and some other things.
4 TLK figures are GONE!
They are NO WHERE! I have looked in every box, drawer, bag that is still in my room, and they are simply gone.
My mom keeps telling me, it's my own fault, and she didn't get rid of anything.
Why not put everything that was on top of the box into 1 other box or 1 bag?
The figurines were kind of big, so very hard to miss!
They are the 1994 Mattel action figures, so they are quite obvious to see!
There was a little dish on top of the boxes aswell, that had the arm of Timon in it, and also the body. It's part of the animated lamp, and needed to be fixed, but kept forgetting about it.
The arm was still in the dish, the body is gone too!
I'm thinking she's really just doing these things, to get to me in some way. She knows what it means to me.
They couldn't be gone, they have to be here somewhere, but they simply aren't.
I have doubles in the seal from those action figures, but those ones I had ever since 1994 and I got both from my favorite aunt.
So they had more meaning to me.
I'm so mad, and crushed :roar: :tears:

If your mom is really doing that, I just don't understand why she would want to do that to you. :(

I don't know, kind of like "that'll teach her"? I don't know :(

What does she want to teach you by doing something like that?
I mean if you think these things just "vanished", what's there to learn?
I don't understand why somebody does something like that either. My mum used to clean up things that should remain were they where, too. But at least I always knew she didn't want to do anything bad. All she wanted was to help and as our saying here goes. "Sometimes the opposite of "good" is not "bad" but "with good intention"... It just happend accidentally. But I was mad, too.
However, I'd be really upset if she had done it on purpose.
That reminds me of my father-in-law. When my husband was a little boy, he always threatened to throw some of his toys out of the window because they were all over the floor. Well, one day he did it and my husband had to pick everything up from the outside. Now that's a case I understand what the lesson was. But with yours, the situation is different. You're way older and she must have done it secretly. *sigh* I really don't understand that.
I sure hope the things will turn up again!

Hmm. Do you have anyone with kids that goes over your mother's house? Maybe a kid went in to your room while they were visiting and saw them on top of the boxes and took them to play with.
Only because it seems very odd that your mother would take them, not just move them to somewhere you should have found them, but if a little kid saw them sitting on top out of the boxes, their mother might have just scooped them up with the rest of the kid's toys at the end of the night an taken them home not realizing they didn't belong to them.
Maybe ask who with kids has been over the house? And then follow up with the parents to see if they have them?

The only kids that come here are my brothers'.
I was at his house yesterday, and asked my sister-in-law, she knows about TLK, so if she had seen one of the boys with a toy, she would have definatly told me.
Maybe my mom is just hiding them somewhere, all I know is, they are not in my room anymore, and they are not in any of the boxes she moved into the hallway.
Oh well, can't seem to be dwelling on this much, so much going on right now :tears:
