They're great at times. I've seen the Captain Planet episodes But they scare the living hell outta me! I'm convinced they're spawns of the devil out to eat me alive >.< *insert 'she's gonna eat me' smiley here*

A gigantic one just popped out next to me and I was very... alert and tried to get something to destroy it. But when I came back with my paintball helmet and a febreeze spray and latex gloves, it disappeared. Now I'm freaking out wondering where it is. But yeah, I will not sleep easy tonight.

Do you like spiders?

lawlz, I know EXACTLY how you feel. Not to give the wrong impression of my abode, but... once in a while a bug sneaks in (I do not know how, but they do, if I knew how, they would not, ahem!). I'll be sitting in bed and for some reason spot this bug crawling around. My gaze COULD have fallen anywhere, anywhere at all, but it chooses to land smack dab right on this strange creature of ancient evil who skulks and sneaks in the shadows of children's nightmares... yeah, it's that big of a deal people. See, if I had NOT seen the bug, it would have killed me in my sleep for sure, BUT since I DID see the bug, it now watches me with glee and will NOT in fact attack, but revel in the fear it knows it has created just by its mere show of bravado by saying "Yeah, I'm here, you gonna do something about it?". Bugs in general are evil, spiders are the masters of evil. 'nuff said ;)

Ah, a thread about spiders... one had to be made sooner or later...

Do you like spiders?
The simple answer to this question is... NO! :mufasaworried:

I hate spiders with a passion for the most part. It depends on the size really on how much I freak out when I see one. I don't mind small spiders, or the ones that live outside (I can be near one of those, which is kind of weird :hmm:) but the bigger the spider, the more my arachnophobia kicks in. I can't even be in the same room as one, and I have to get someone else to kill it for me. And I know your frustration when you leave the room and come back to find the spider gone. It seems spiders like to play hide 'n seek. I can't sleep either knowing there's a spider on the loose around my room. I have to find it and kill it (or get someone to kill it), otherwise I end up having a sleepless night. :woe:

Here's a story that happened a while ago regarding spiders. I was on holiday around the hotel grounds. It was dark and the lighting wasn't very good. I saw something cross the path in front of me just missing my foot as I was walking... I swear I'd have stood on it if I had taken one extra step. It was about the size of a mouse, so I thought it was a mouse to begin with, but when my dad used his lighter to see what it was, it was a big fat ugly tarantula! :eww: I'll never forget that moment.

There are some things that crawl that I'm not afraid of, like for example rain beetles, but cockroaches are just as bad. :cringe: Thankfully those are exposed to warmer climates, or very dirty places which I just stay clear of. ;)

@KS: You know how people say "Let me tell you a scary story" and said story is often not scary in the least? Well, that's not the case with that story. *shivers* Ewwwww, spiders everywhere @__@ X__X

Ugh, remember the giant spiders in Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings? *shivers again* Blech

I don't mind little spiders. Actually, I don't mind most spiders. It's the huge and/or HAIRY ones that get me. :yuck:

I have a few views on spiders. I think they're amazing creatures, and I love seeing them outside in the garden and I don't mind getting close to them. But if they're in the house, I hate it. I think it's because the house, especially my bedroom is a safe space and to get a big huntsman in it just freaks me out and I have to kill it, if it gets away, I don't sleep knowing that it's in there somewhere.

However, with the pygmy possum research that I do, we have small nestboxes, that are narrow but about a foot long. Often there'll be a huntsman spider at one of the box while I reach in the other end to get out a possum. It doesn't bother me so much. Unless they move :p

here people says that spiders brings fortune... if it were real, i would be milionaire because my home has a lot of those tiny little spiders, if them find a corner, they make its webs.

I must be the odd one out here. I LOVE spiders. They are such amazing creatures. Sometimes we get the big hairy wolf spiders making their nests on the sides of the house.(We get tons of them around here, though I have never seen one indoors) I could watch them for hours. While if I found a big one outside, I would move it outside(I would NEVER kill an insect just for being it my house, accept if I find too many ants to move), I have a little one with it's web behind my toilet, and I let it be. It isn't hurting anyone, and it's great for dealing with flies and nats(the bugs, not the mod!) that get in the window.

Even insects have the right to live, no matter how brainless they may be.

Hey, KS, I didn't know there were tarantulas in England. I always thought they were dessert creatures.

Hmm, gotta commend you for that Feral. I love animals and all, and I know very good and well that I shouldn't kill them. They just freak me the hell out =/ Wish I knew you in person, I'd just be like "There's this HUGE spider, please take it away o__o"

Formula: Bugs + Me = Me losing all sense of the meaning of the words 'courage' and 'bravery', as well as completely forgetting size comparisons between human and spider ;P

I didn't see one in England. I was on holiday in Cyprus when it happened. ;) I'm not sure if it was a tarantula actually, but it was certainly as big as one. :thinks:

And those huntsman spiders creap me out. :\

I really have nothing against spiders, I actually see them as very huge part of ecosystem. Only thing that bothers me about them is if they have poison that is strong enough to do damage to a creature that is not their pray or natural enemy, such as black widow which I actually ended up killing a few just the other day as I was moving some rocks and came face to face with 3 of them. Now I know one black widow bite is not deadly for most people, but it's really painful and can cause nasty infections and tissue damage. But as said, for most part I do like them. ;)

Awww, spiders are kinda cute x3 can't say I'm too fond of the more exotic species though. A lil garden spider crawled across my head once...it tickled

I've always played with spiders, of a certain size. It's the very tiny tiny ones that I can't keep an eye on that make me a bit freaked out.

And really they do not bother me at all until they're in my room, in the dark..and I'm left to wonder....and after seeing a comrade's leg with a hole in it from a brown recluse....yeah I'm not so friendly towards spiders anymore. Out of the house they go.

I blame this thread for conjuring up a dirty great black spider for me on the wall when I got out of bed this morning. I dashed quickly passed it to get the spray, I sprayed it, it didn't look ill enough for my definition of dying so I whacked it as well :p

The black ones like that though are usually venemous, both my mum and ken don't like those around either. They're not so fussed about the huntsmans and wolf spiders.

If a spider crawled up my head, I would freak out completely. In a comedic way of course, I'm a comical guy when it comes to freaking out. Lol.

I was in my high school computer lab, and I saw something move under the desk. I only thought it was some kind of loose plastic thing cuz who knows what's down there. I was doing some photoshop stuff and I looked down. There I saw, a spider with a fat back. I swore I saw it had some blue on it. I stood up immediately and brushed it off and pretty much acted like this guy here at 40 seconds into the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7ZcDShqCl0&feature=related

There was a spider in my room last night, and if it weren't for Leor texting me at midnight it would've been sharing my room all night. :cringe: So even though he woke me up with his texts, I can thank him for that... not that I mind anyway though. ;) But my dad had to kill it. I can't kill those things by myself... xP

Do I like spiders? HELL NO!
Well, correction...I don't mind the very very VERY little jumping ones...they're kinda cute.
I also don't mind big hairy spiders, like tarantulas, so long as I'm prepared for them and they're not jumpin' out at me all Arachnophobia-ninja-spider style.

Spiders seem to enjoy trying to para-trooper down onto my head when I'm working - it's these that I hate..evil, sneaky, attack-from-above spiders. And creeper outhouse spiders.

This guy, on the other hand, I want for a pet.
Submitted for your approval - the peacock spider. Ridiculous.

Tarantulas, I'm all good with, I've held them before and all was fine, that comes from being a zookeeper. Wee little money spiders, again it's all good. Anything in between however and things are a little different. As long as they don't move and I can trap them then it's not too bad, but once they start moving is when I start freaking out. I don't like killing them if I can help it and I feel quite bad if I accidentally kill one while trying to trap it.

There was a great quote about spiders I heard:
"Spiders: They're inexplicably fast and absurdly crafty ... like the Spetsnaz!"

^I can't get my hand that close to them, I just can't do it :p Though strangely, when I'm doing the pygmy possum stuff, we get huntsmans in the nest boxes and I can put my hand in a nestbox that has a huntsman in it to get out a possum. But I can't go near them at home... but they must die...

I don't like spiders like the most of us here. The good news is the lot of 'em will run away if confronted. Azerane I commend you for living in Australia, because of having so many poisonous spiders. We try not to kill the spiders instead we capture them in a bug jar and let them go outside. I see mostly wolf spiders & daddy longlegs, which all creep me out anyway.

This may look like nothing to some of you here, but I just found this hairy monster in the bathroom. :cringe:

This is one thing I don't miss about summer. You see many more spiders than you do in the winter. :ohno:

Ew KS, that is a pretty big spider. For England anyway :p

Generally I'm okay with spiders but I tend to stay away from them when I can. If there's one in the room with me I have to catch it and let it free, I can't relax knowing it's out there somewhere. But then, the spiders we get here aren't very big, so I avoid killing them. If I lived somewhere the spiders were huge though...it'd probably be a different story...

 That is really creepy Hasira... That's why when I hit a spider or spray it with something, I make sure I get it good enough so it doesn't fall or run somewhere where I then have no idea what happened to it :p

Eck, spiders.
I don't hate them, because I know that they're good for controlling other pests but still...

I mean, they've completely taken over my basement, so every time I go and do laundry, I get attacked by spiderwebs everywhere :(

But, I'd rather see a spider than an earwig or a maggot.
Much rather.
Just thinking about those makes me cringe ;~;

They need to die.

That is all.
I don't care they eat flies. I'd rather be in a room with flies.

If there is anything I'm scared to death about, it's spiders, and this phobia goes extremely far.

Well I just looked up huntsman spiders. Nope D:

I maintain a tolerance of spiders and will scoop them up in a plastic cup & throw them outside if they get in my way, (I'm not the best at dusting/cleaning floors, so I can hardly fault the ones that stay in the shadows for moving in and getting comfy,) in all but 2 places with one common thread.

Showers, or anywhere near my bed. If the spider is in place where my glasses are off, or are going to be off, then I kill them. Because I can't have you creeping up on me when I'm half blind. No no no.
