we have Motorways and Freeways here.

Motorways are within urban areas (80km/h), i take one to go to Uni sometimes.
and Freeways go between cities, and they have higher speeds (110km/h) :cheese:
Both have none or limited traffic lights, so you can drive fast ;)

If you look closely, the bleu line is the border ...

The orange/yellow lines are the freeways.

Where you see "Limburg", that's where I'm from, and where it says "Antwerpen", I live there now :D

Um... Every bridge/overpass/underpass on an interstate highway in the US has to be able to support the weight and the clearance of the currently used tank (I think it's the M1 Abrahms) and every one mile out of five has to be a certain width and be straight/level so that it could be used as a landing strip in times of war or crisis. Eisenhower came up with all that, and it helps make our military faster at mobilizing should we ever be invaded by seaweed monsters or Godzilla.

Currently, I-69 only reaches from Northern Michigan to Indianapolis, through Fort Wayne, where I live. But they're thinking of extending it through Houston, TX, to Mexico...

Serously though, something like the Autobahn wouldnt work in the US without some major changes to enforcement. Right now, cops pretty much ONLY chase speeders, in Germany they go after ya for tailgating, failure to keep left, and road rage.

Which, curiously enough, unlike speed alone, actually cause accidents...>.>

http://www.llmnet.gov.my/Images/KLKPIC1.JPGSomehow, 'The Road Less Traveled' comes to mind...

Though when it was built, the Soviets were actually a threat, and I'm not sure if MAD had been invented yet :bleen:

I could post maps of the New York State Thruway, but it sucks.

Gojira! XD

That's interesting, though. I never knew that.

...Jeez, I'd love to see a line of tanks try to get through the Beltway during rush hour. XD

Really? 'Cause I'd be more interested as to WHY the line of tanks are trying to get through the Beltway during rush hour :p

Oh, and another fast fact, the military actually owns all interstate highways and leases them to states during peace time. During times of war, the Highway Patrol, which is usually given jurisdiction over the state and federal highways, lose any jurisdiction over highways.

:lol::lol:

That actually reminds me of an incident a few years back when some psycho managed to steal a tank from an NG armory or something...and went joyriding XD

You see it on 'worlds scariest police chases' every so often. Complete with overdramatized comments liek 'oMg waht fi hE haz teh bulletz for teh kannon!!!!1111'

What I'd like to know, is how this guy managed to STEAL a TANK...but I guess we'll never know, since the cops were so kind as to fill him with bullets immediately upon getting the hatch open...http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v118/Shatara/bumms/rolleye.gif

w00t necroposting <3 ;).

Expressway is a divided highway for high-speed traffic with at least partial control of access. Expressways are divided arterial roads with limits on the frequency of driveways and intersecting cross-streets. In other jurisdictions, access to expressways is limited only to grade-separated interchanges, making them the full equivalent of freeways.

By Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expressway

Like my old post said: I'm addictive to Expressway/freeway/highway = )

What's incredible about road is how unusual the interchange or roundabout can be :).

The largest road I drive on is MD-24. Here is the wikipedia take on it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maryland_Route_24 The speed limit is 55mph but most people do 60 to 70 mph. I am not ready to drive on interstates like I-95 yet.

Expressway are called Controlled-access Highway, the higest grade type of highways in this world to support high-speed or high volume traffic around the world.

Expressway or Controlled-Access Highway have many terms, most common words for CAH is Freeway and Motorway. there are other similar term for CAH is Expressway, Interstate, and Parkway.

Controlled access highway provides a fast flow traffic without any traffic light (or signal), with intersections to exit or enter the freeway/highway. it also free from any on road crossing like a zebra crossing and usually the management will add overpasses or underpasses for the safety of the pedestrian. There's a lot of type of management on the CAH but some of the highway in the other country have Toll booth or Turnpike (in US). The toll road are usually measure by the distance between two booth. there's three type of toll road in this world and that is Closed toll collection system which using a transit card or ticket to determent the distance between the start exit to the exit that you are desire. While the open road system or flat fees toll booth are usually pay on a fixed rate on certain location.

and Now I will show you guys the spaghetti interchange works.
