Well this hasent been created yet so WOHO!

and il actually start!.

so i did draw back in the day never became "good" but i became better as i went, and now recently, im back from like 2-3 years of "Not wanting to draw" and now im going all out with coluring and stuff too!.

so yeah here is just a random thrown together thing, to practice poses and perspectives, and i inked it on my pc and colured it :D , but im not happy with the inking, so gona ask Kanu to help me abit xP she has an awsome way to do it if i remember correctly.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/Shadow_89/my%20art/pose-practice-colured.png

and yeah here is just a random cat anthro thing posing, the colurs are horrendous too , but i just played around so to speak xP

Yay, Shads is drawing again :p I think the colouring looks really sharp and smooth, which is great!

Hehe, and did you want digital inking (as in, do the lineart in Photoshop) or convert traditional lineart into digital? :D

It's quite convenient that this thread appeared, because I was thinking about starting it myself just now :P Here's my latest non-TLK-related work:

http://th05.deviantart.net/fs71/150/i/2011/126/a/4/aro__kai_feline_walk_wip__11_by_kanutgl-d3fqmqf.png (http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/126/e/d/aro__kai_feline_walk_wip__11_by_kanutgl-d3fqmqf.swf)
Click the image to see the animation. It's a front view of the feline walk animation for Aro'kai, which is a game I'm animating for C: Anyone got any critique for me? So far I already know that the paws kinda pass through each other (biggie, I'm slightly embarassed that I didn't catch that before) and that the head is kinda stiff (but I can't put any more movement onto the actual face, as that uses separate actions). Anything else, feel free to point it out to me!

And just for good measure, I'll post this here too. I know there are at least a few people on this website who will appreciate this :p

http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/119/e/c/my_little_pony_by_kanutgl-d3f723g.png
Yes, yes, I got dragged into it too, and now I can't get out XD

@Shads: That's a nice fresh start, keep it up ;)

@Kanu: I quite like that animation, there's not really much to criticize about it, except what you already mentioned, but I'd like to see the model on different angles too. Oh, and I'm kinda getting curious about this Aro'kai project :ooo:

Jeez, where did all this pony fever come from? That's a cute one there, nice work :)

Wow Kanu thats fantastic animation, ! :D i cant belive its going so well for both of us on our "dream" fronts hehe.

oh and yeah id like the digital inking as in photoshop tutirioal, cuse well the tactic im doing now works but its not quite as "sharp" as i want it to be, i have Photoshop CS3 btw.

Leor, check out http://arokai.proboards.com/index.cgi and http://arokai-game.deviantart.com/ if you want to know more about the game :cheese:

And Shads, have a look at this tutorial I made a couple of months ago: http://kanutgl.deviantart.com/art/K-A-N-U-T-G-L-Part-1-195633789 The three parts explain everything from optimizing your sketch to shading C:

I've moved this thread to The Mirage. ;) I'm actually quite surprised my fellow moderator didn't notice.

Anyway, time to comment on some non-TLK art, and post some myself... xP

Shads, I think that looks great. I like the sharpness and boldness of the colours. :D I'm sure Kanu can help you out a lot with your outlines. ;)

Kanu, I'm no expert on animating unfortunately, so I can't really offer you any more critique on the animation you posted. I do agree with you about the paw though, and the head. But I think the head looks pretty good as it is actually. :)

And yay, My Little Pony! I love the sharp clean outlines on that one, and the whole colours look really sharp. It's a nice design... I like the paw marks on her back.

As for me, most of my artwork (when I get round to doing it :p) is TLK-related, but here are a few examples of my non-TLK art:

Two Lovers. A drawing I did for Leor on Valentine's Day <3 (http://kingsimba.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d39ip92)
My dog, Charlie, all cartoon-ised! (http://kingsimba.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d38naj5) :D
We Are One. A realistic drawing of a lion and a jaguar in the same face. I'm still very proud of this, enough to have it framed on my wall. (http://kingsimba.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d32ypfl)
Puppy Love. Yet another one of my human drawings, and yet another one of my drawings that I've framed on my wall. (http://kingsimba.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d30x6hj) ;)
Figaro! From Pinocchio, of course. (http://kingsimba.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=24#/d291gfa)

I can't wait for Aro'kai to be out either. I honestly wish i could've helped with it rather than start FeralHeart. Aro'kai is beautifully art-driven, while FeralHeart is becoming too mechanic.

I didn't draw the lineart, I just colored this, but I quite like how it turned out.

I always have problems with: 1) tying the colors together, and 2) shading/adding depth. I think I pulled it off ok in this pic. [:

My latest "complete" picture -

http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/157/d/d/end_of_the_line_by_kanutgl-d3i6zo4.jpg

It's Oskova, a character belonging to an artist on deviantArt who is making an awesome comic about a few German Shepherd Dogs in World War II. Dogs + WWII = instant win for me, so fan art inevitably follows :P I had a lot of fun with this and I really like how Oskova came out, which is why I wanna show it off here xD But the background... eh. Oh, well.

Azerane
June 7th, 2011, 01:33 AM
Oops, I thought it was a fox... but I'll blame the red glow from the firelight for that :p It sounds like an amazing comic though. Is there a link to said comic? :p

Really awesome image though, I like the fur effect. The background works well, I think what would improve it is adding some darker blacks to it to give it some more depth :)

Me too, but foxes are cool. :p

I think it looks great. :) I love the whole fur effect you captured there, as well as the contrast between the colours and the shading. The fire looks very effective too. The background looks absolutely fine and blends in well with Oskova, but I think what would improve it would be to add some more blacks to give it more depth and contrast, just like Azzy said. Otherwise, it's a great result, and you deserve a pat on the back for it *pats* ;)

I'm curious about this comic too. It sounds like it'll be an interesting read. :curious:

So this is something that I was working on for a long time, I was working with a friend to do a title animation for him, but after so long not getting it done, and with all the stress I had last year and everything going on with moving, I decided some time ago that I just wasn't in a place to work on it anymore. Was something I hated giving up on, but sometimes you just have to be realistic with yourself.

Anyway, here's a short portion of the animation, it has some sizing issues towards the end which I was working on at the time, but I love the first little segment with the movement forward.

I've always wanted to animate something for myself, I have a TLK animation I've always intended to finish from way back in 2009 but it's such a huge project and I was far too ambitious  Still, I do enjoy animating, I just don't seem to have the endurance for it.

Love that horse animation and that Beast, he's all like... tough and beastly. :D

I think you've done well with the anthro form, it's a tough form to get the hang of, I find humans hard enough to begin with but then you have to bring a certain amount of animal element into it to. You've done well.

cleargreenwater
March 26th, 2013, 11:49 AM
Yeah, Mufasa, the anthro looks good. Their hands and feet are always a nightmare to design because you have to make it look animal-like instead of human hands & feet (that are bad enough to have to draw if you ask me) I think you got it right in this drawing which is extra awesome if you're new to them. You did a great job on the hands on your Byzantine angel up there, too, though, maybe they aren't as problematic to others!

And Kasei--your Beast looks so FLUFFEH! XD

I'm glad you found a way to work around certain art blocks and I didn't know that you could draw eagles that good. Really amazing and I love the style :)

@Azerane: I'm sorry for not commenting on this ealier. I second Leor: That was really nice of you. It's always sad when you have to put down an animal you love dearly :(

A belated thanks, Kirauni ^^ I still gotta get better with eagles, though xD

I just decided to finally change my avatar to my updated version of Coatl, which looks more like a proper jaguar now ^^
Here's the full size

The other week, I was searching the Balrogs. I'm always the one who instead of running from the fire (literally) I am attracted to it, and all the dark characters that fall inside of it usually. I discovered the story of the Silmarillion and felt like there is an entire world within a world of LOTR. I could not stop reading; when I discovered the origin of Sauron I sadly felt some connection...and I say sadly because that's not something anyone wants to hear I'm sure.

Originalled named Marion, he was as Eru (God) had created him: good and un-corrupt. His greatest virtue was his love of order and perfection, disliking anything wasteful. However, this would also prove to be the source of his fall, for in the Dark Lord Morgoth, Mairon saw the will and power that would help him achieve his own goals and desires faster than if he had pursed them on his own. So great was his allegiance that even in later days, after Morgoth was defeated and locked outside the confines of the world, Sauron encouraged and coerced some Men to worship Morgoth as the one and true god. However, while Morgoth wanted to either control or destroy the very matter of Arda itself, Mairon's desire was to dominate the minds and wills of its creatures. Sauron ("The Abhorred"), was a fallen Maia, the creator of the One Ring, and the most trusted lieutenant of his master Melkor (Morgoth, the first Dark Lord). After Melkor's defeat in the First Age, Sauron became the second Dark Lord and strove to conquer Arda (Middle-earth), creating the Rings of Power for this purpose. In the Second Age, he was defeated in the War of the Last Alliance by the last line of defense: Elves and Men under kings Gil-galad and Elendil.

While I can't relate to being some dark lord and destroying the world, I can easily relate to the aspiring virtue of love for order and perfection, the world of reason over emotion, and I am sure his original character (Meiron) lived inside this. He let it consume him and then sought to bend the will of all the creatures of Middle Earth. It is the far end of the spectrum for a world of hard, brutish logic that I hope to never know but am already bound to roam.

So I really like my Copic markers :D I don't have a lot of them, and I've learned my lesson on how to buy color sets... always get 3 in the same family when I buy or all the colors turn out too dark >.< But I managed to figure out how to shade Zor properly with purple and blue put together.

That's awesome, I love the look of markers, I need to improve on them. Part of my problem is finding paper that I like to use them on. Thicker paper seems to soak up too much ink, and the only marker paper I've found is always really thin. So I'm not sure what the best solution is. I've used regular printer paper, thin marker paper and smooth bristol type paper with them.

Drawing of an RP scene between Leor and I. If you all can critique it, that'd help me out a lot!
